  1. AIRLINE FARES TO THAILAND FEOM L.A.
    Created by: SPANKY
[Timestamp: Wed 26 May, 10:07 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

Hey fellow travelers. I'm on a shoestring budget and
looking for cheap fares from L.A. to Bangkok leaving on June
18th. The lowest quote I've received is for $640
RT(probably not with tax). Is this reasonable? Does anyone
know of a reliable consolidator who has listed cheaper fares
    for that time?

  2. El Nido - Palawan
    Created by: Jerome (jwittamer@ft2000.rsm.nl)
[Timestamp: Wed 26 May, 9:46 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

I'm planning to go to Palawan next Tuesday 1 June with my
wife. We plan to go from PP towards Sabang and the
underground river and stay in the area for a couple days. Is
there anything to see there? Are roads towards the
    underground river practicable?
After we intend to go to El Nido by boat and stay there for
10 days. However it seems to be raining there. Anybody be or
been there these days? I'm afraid to get clouds all day and
    much rain.
Also what are the musts in El Nido (reef, caves,
    trekkings,...)? Where is food good?
Would appreciate any advice you might have,
    Thanks,
    Jerome

Hi my girlfriend and i are going on a 6 weeks trip in july\August and have more or less desided on Bali\Lombok\Gilli'sand flores.
The point is that we are afraid it might be to croweded at that time. The other side of the story is the "bad" weather in thailand at the same time (I was in thailand last year and went home in the beginning of june and the weather was going wors every day)
Finaly my question: Waht's the biggest "risk":
a)the bad weather, and maybe to quiet in south thailand?
b)the overcrowded beaches on the iIslands est of Bali and the season-priced accomandations?
Thinking of changing our tickets, and maybe go to thailand instead
    HELP!!!!!!

  5. Misc. Expenses on Koh Tao
    Created by: Sera
[Timestamp: Wed 26 May, 2:59 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

I will be traveling to Koh Tao in June and will be staying
about 2 weeks. I have a pretty good idea of what I can
expect to pay for accomodations and diving, but I am curious
about food, bottled water, and other miscellanious expenses
(beer and alcoholic beverages are not an issue.
Unfortunatly, I had to give that pleasurable pastime up a
    few years back.)
Any recommondations for resturants, sights or activities
that shouldn't be missed will be appreciated.
Also can you get thai massages on the island and how much do
they cost? Thanks for any info you might have! Peace, Sera

  7. Info on Nemberala
Created by: Chris in Darwin (clo.tedgp@octa4.net.au)
[Timestamp: Wed 26 May, 0:52 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

Hello from Australia's Asian capital city, Darwin.
Can readers give me any advice on getting to Nemberala - on
the Indonesian island of Rote - from Kupang?
Did you feel safe on the ferry crossing?
How was the bus trip from Baa?
Will it seem like an adventure for my children - aged 14,
11, 8 and 6 - or might it fall into the category of "Are we
    there yet, Dad?"
How about accommodation in Nemberala itself?
What about local handicraft? I believe there is a women's
    co-operative for craft production.
Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.
Warm regards from the tropics, where the Northern
Territory has just beaten Western Australia in Table Tennis
    at the 1999 Arafura Games.

  8. SULAWESI
    Created by: Robin
[Timestamp: Tue 25 May, 23:23 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

I am going to Indonesia with my girlfriend from 29/1 to 1/2. Will be in Kuta, Bali for 5 days for some New Years boozing and would like a couple of days in the mountains before we head off to Sulawesi. There seems so much to see and do in Sulawesi that I'm wondering whether 4 weeks will be enough. Our plan is to start at Ujung Pandang and go straight to Rantepao for some trekking in Tanah Toraja. From there to Lake Poso and the Eastern coast of Central Sulawesi. There are several groups of Islands off the East coast we'd like to see but will limit it to only one: Togian Islands or Banggai islands or the Sula Islands (I know this group is in Maluku but it looks enticing). From there we'd like to spend a good bit of time in Northern Sulawesi and finish up in Manado. If time permits we'd REALLY like to spend visit the Sangihe/Talaud Islands to the North. I'd love it if people could pass on any recommendations, especially as to the Island groups i've mentioned (there's a fair bit of literature on the mainland). Will $(Aus) 2000 be enough money for this kind of holiday? What's the weather like at that time of year (I understand Sulawesi to have many weather patterns)? Will it be safe? Have we given ourselves enough time and if not what should we miss? I'd appreciate any response to this post. Thanks, Robin.

  11. Cycling in North Sulawesi
    Created by: Rich (rich@loxinfo.co.th)
[Timestamp: Tue 25 May, 20:04 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

I am an avid cyclist. I also hate dragging a bicycle with me
on airplanes if I can get a good one at the place where I am
    going.
So, I have started cycling tours of North Sulawesi,
featuring the Minihasa Highlands, just 25 km. out of Manado,
and Gorontalo, 425 km., the stepping-stone to the Togian
    Islands.
There are many beautiful places to bike to, but no guides at
the moment, so I shall be happy to do so myself. Next trip
is scheduled for 15 July. I will provide the bikes on-site,
and take care of things for cyclists as we cycle. Most trips
are day-trips, so we return to a nice cozy place (Wawo Hotel
in Minihasa, and the Hotel Melati in Gorontalo) at night.
There are lakes, volcanoes, and lovely scenic coastline
(Gorontalo, especially). Outrigger canoe sailing is also
    available in Gorontalo.
If you would like to join me, please email me as soon as
possible so I can prepare an estimate tailored to what you
would like to do before we set off.
    Kind regards,
    Rich Fuller

    Hello,
I am in doubt, please help... Should I take diving lessons
in Holland or do the lessons in Sulawesi where we will go at
    the end of this year?
People told me that once you have the Padi certificate you
can dive to much better spots and do not waste time with
    lessons.
Others say it is much nicer learning to dive in some
beautiful spot and not having to look at the swimming pool
tiles etc. What are your experiences???
    Thanks for any info!

July/August, 1999 with a friend. We want/need to get to
Bacolod and to Ozamis. Since PAL went down, it is
apparently quite hard getting to these places. Especially to
Ozamis. Does anyone know anything about getting to these
two places?? We might have to take a ferry, but how safe are
these? we are two females and this may not be a good option
    for us. Please help. Thanks.

get to these places and approx. prices??? There may be
flights to Bacolod from Manila, but are there flights to
Ozamis from Manila also? I heard there are not. We may have
to catch a ferry (many hours), but I am not sure how safe
this would be (myself and my friend are both female in early
20's). Can anybody please help? Please eMail me if you
    can. Thanks.

I need information on travel east from flores to timor and then on to darwin. I believe that ferries and/or pelni ships ply between flores and timor however I need to know if flights can connect to darwin from kupang or dili. Its been 25 years since doing this trip before but I bet its still possible. Also if we happen to come in by private boat/yacht will customs in darwin have a problem if we are holding proper tourist visas. Any info on timor would also be appreciated [I know its dangerous].

heard that Bunaken is fantastic for snorkelling and diving,

good for swimmung? Maybe one of the islands or on the

Any other recommandations for north sulawesi?

Once im there I would like to get outa Bali asap as I spent
2 weeks there already where would people reconmend that i
go, bear in mind that im into surfing, treking, climbing,
diving, etc. Dose anyone know if there is any good climbing
    anywhere in Indo?
Im would like to bring back some of those cheap indo craft
stuff is thee a freight company that anyone has used or has
been told about that wont lose all my stuff? And last of
all tell me about your trip the places to go and just as

  30. China Ailines Woes
    Created by: Dennis
[Timestamp: Mon 24 May, 18:55 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

    Airline Disappointment: May 18,
    1999
I recently had my second disappointment with China Airlines.
Several years ago my luggage was lost for 4 days on the
SF-Taipei flight. It was returned but with no note or
explanation. I was lucky. More recently there was a two-hour
plus delay on a Taipei-Manila flight due to brake problems
discovered just as we started to back up. It was repaired
with passengers on board and ended with a 2-hr flight
requiring 5 hrs in our seats. I was too late to do business
in Manila and returned with nothing accomplished and having
to go to HK two weeks later to finish my resident visa
business. The major repair to the brake system was a noisy
and hot experience. It also was unsafe since it is always
safer to take passengers off before any major repair and not
needlessly endanger lives. A fire would have been
catastrophic. The China Airlines complaint department made
me go through a one-month process and a series of faxes,
including a final one where they wanted my Passport and Visa
copied. It ended with the same story and form letter as the
initial one - We are not responsible for delays due to
mechanical failure or our maintenance difficulties. I have
spent seven years in Asia and worked in or visited eleven
countries here, over forty world-wide. The overall onboard
service, reputation (general knowledge here in Taiwan from
conversations after my disappointment), and accountability
is inferior to the other options for air travel. Word to the
    wise.

Thanks to all you Filipinites who have given me so much info
about where to go and what to do. I'm off on August - and
will be using Cebu as my launching pad for some dedicated
island hopping over 3 weeks. Given that I'd like to spend
some time in Boracay, can anyone recommend a possible route
(I'd prefer to go by sea and land as I'm flying in and out
of Cebu). Any tips gratefully received. I've got 3 weeks
or so to do the round trip. Anything I should definitely
avoid? Scuba diving is not important to me, but great
beaches and waterfalls and snorkelling and non-resort type
    accommodation is.

  32. Bali to Flores/Batu Cermin
    Created by: Rich (hohriver@yahoo.com)
[Timestamp: Mon 24 May, 17:22 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

Quite a few postings question whether Indonesia is safe.
We just got back from four weeks travel from Bali to
Flores. We felt very safe...the biggest dangers might be
all the damn dogs in Ubud...and the crazy drivers on Bali
of anything motorized, but to all who wonder...Go and Enjoy!
In an earlier posting, which was removed,I warned of two
characters who operate between Simbawa and Flores, and they
specialize in ripping people off. I named names, and my
posting was removed...Why was that done? People put
postings with swear words, and that is ok, so what is wrong
with specific warnings to save some travelers some $$$$? I
do want to suggest that travelers to Flores who stay on in
Labuanbajo take a short ride via local transport to some
caves at Batu Cermin. These caves have been cleaned up by
local volunteers who are trying to promote ecotourism. The
caves are very interesting, the guided tour is very
inexpensive, and it is not visited in large numbers. We
were told they had only 950 foreign guests last year. This
trip is well worth your time and $$$.

    Hello there,
Can somebody help me? I am planning to go scuba diving in Sipadan in December. Aside from scuba diving, i am also interested in climbing Kota Kinabalu. My question is, how do you get from Sipadan to Kota Kinabalu? Will I need guides and where can i hire them? What is the best route to the summit of Kota Kinabalu, if there are more than one?
Any other information will be welcome. Cheers.

Are you interested in sailing from Singapore via the East
Coast of Malaysia and its islands to Thailand.
I have large Cruising Yacht and depart Singapore on the 1st
of July. We would be sailing during the day and find a nice
anchorage for overnight on islands or harbors.
Scuba dive gear on board to do some diving.
Duration is approx. 3 weeks Malaysia and then Thailand to
    Bangkok.
    Some costsharing involved.
    Happy Sailing!

To all travellers who have recently been in Sarawak (and have been careful not to mention "Penan" or "Bruno ....." or "Logging" as has been advised by some guide books)...
I would like to hear what you actually thought and saw there. PLEASE MAIL ME AND ALL OTHERS WHO ARE READING THIS.
IN RETURN, I will answer all correspondance and help you with any travel tips, Malaysian recipies, Australian info (where I now live) you may need - no request is too big!
I was originally from Malaysia and am planning to visit Sarawak and all the wonder it holds - Niah / Mulu / Longhouses / Bario hill tribes, etc.
BUT I DON'T WANT TO SUPPORT ANY OF THE DEFORESTATION / HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES WHICH OCCUR THERE. SHOULD I STAY AWAY FROM SARAWAK??
From what I can gather so far, the Permit fee you pay will go directly to the government in support of it's activities. Other money spent may also go to a large extent that way. Eg, one of the most expensive domestic transfers AUD $400 will go to the government airline.
I've managed to find very little on the net but the info in the 1998 report found on the website below may be of interest.

So, worldly travelers of SEA, I'd like to know what fruits
you've eaten that is not local to your native land (or
doesn't grow outside SE Asia). One that you've totally
loved, been disgusted, tasted like another (more familiar)
fruit back home? Here's a few that you can tell me about if
you've tried them (and are certainly not found on the
American continent): Lanzones, Siniguelas, Rambutan, Chico,
Macopa, Aratalis, Star Apple, Seniorita Bananas... Plus,
ever try Green Mango Juice? MMM!! I'm getting homesick.
Surely, being all-adventurous, trying different foods is
part of the fun of traveling, isn't it? Heck, there might
even be more fruits that even I haven't heard of. Let me
    know!

  46. Think twice before flying MAS
    Created by: frequent flyer
[Timestamp: Sun 23 May, 17:30 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

(also posted on SEASia mainland branch)
MAS has been instructing its pilots not to fly with
more than the minimum amount of fuel required to get to the
destination. In July of last year, an MAS flight arriving
in London had to request an immediate landing as it was low
on fuel. In the last year, there have been ten incidents of
MAS flights landing at Heathrow with less fuel than the
minimum set by international regulations. MAS has since
probably corrected this problem, but it is badly in debt,
which leaves one to wonder what else it is cutting corners
    on to save money.

Without a doubt a Sony DAT recorder! The reasons for doing
so are much appreciated about 6 months after returning home.
There is probably no describing the sound of a Papuan dawn
other than to just hear it. That dukun mesmerizing the crowd
in Sumatra...a call to prayer by a muezzin...rowing up the
kali Maro...the wedding of the Bupati's son. All these
things are brought back to life each time I listen to the

We are looking at going Diving in Borneo over the next few

whether the diving is good at the moment, and whether there
is access to reasonable vegetarian food.
We want to leave from Australia, and are wondering whether
it is better to have a package from Australia or get a
package of some air fare / accommodation, then dive for a
few days, visit the mountain for a couple of days, visit
the orang utangs for a day, perhaps spend a day in KL
    shopping on the way back.
We have been significantly unimpressed with the lack of
knowledge or help from Travel Agents.
Does anyone know if it is cheaper / easier to get
accommodation / dive tours / trek tours over there or from
    Australia before leaving?
Oh, in the LP Malaysia Singapore & Brunei book on page 511
the phone for Borneo Sea Adventures is actually their fax

My wife and I are going to be heading to Kota Kintabalu in
mid-June and are wanting any info we can get on things to
do. We have vague ideas of things to see such as Orangutan
reserves, national parks, jungle treks, hiking Mt.
Kintabalu, etc. but lack specifics from people who are in
the know. We don't like touristy, package things which in
a way makes us somewhat hypocritical considering we are in
essence tourists ourselves whose presence and money
contribute to the existence of the tourism dynamic in
places like Sabah. I prefer the term "traveler." We know
it looks idiotic on our parts to post this so late
considering our departure is less than a month away but we
recently changed our travel plans. No big deal to us b/c
we never book reservations anywhere we go. We've always
found that finding things on our own (with a little
guidance from LP and other seasoned travelers:) has worked
out just fine and probably better than if we were to book
in advance for hotels or package trips and such. That
being said, please pass on any noteworthy info tidbits
you've got on jungle treks, beaches to see, reasonable
accomodations, hiking, best place to see the orangutans,
(not interested in diving so please exclude), etc. Thanks
    in advance!!!!

I have read all the replies and it semmes the majority of people are saying "don't worry it is ok" My question is when is the last time you were there. I have recently heard through a friend that someone who was there last week said they could not leave their hotel at night.
I don't know these people and indeed haven't spoken to them so do not know if they were just paranoid. I would love to hear from someone who is there now or has just returned.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts as I am to be married in Bali in early July and have family and friends flying in from both Australia and America.

    Hi all,
A friend and i are heading to Bali in for the latter half of July. He hasn't got his diving ticket and i'm keen to do a bit.Send me an email if you're planning to be there then and are keen for a dive. Also if anyone is keen to hook up, hire a car and chase some surf north of Canggu or just around the Bukit let me know.
It seems people in this forum are very quick to write off Bali. I've travelled through Africa, a bit of Europe, Canada and the States and although i loved all these places the best fun i've had has been in Bali. I'll probably get paid out on for that, but hey, Bali's got great cheap food and beer, good surf and fun nightlife. All this talk about hawkers being dickheads is a bit harsh. We've spent a few nights out with some of the Balo guys we met on the street and had some great times. Sure we've been ripped off a few times, but who cares about $50 bucks in the scheme of things and what did you buy travel insurance for in the first place? Be careful by all means, but don't be cynical.
Anyway if you wanna hook up for a surf or dive or just to party on send me an email or post onto this.

    Greetings travelers,
I'm currently in Nepal and will be leaving the mountains
and heading toward the beaches tommorow. Was wondering if
any of you have taken sailing or motor boat trips (diving
or just touring) for a week or more to the islands east of
Bali and Lombok? If you have or know of any "budget"
companies that offer this service I'd love your advice. I
should reach Bali the week of the 20th and would be
grateful for some advice. Regards, Zoe

  105. Bali Info/Accommodation

[Timestamp: Sun 16 May, 10:02 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

My wife and I have been to Bali before and are thinking
about going back again for a full Month in August. We are
going to take a package deal for around $1,000 each for a 10
day trip and then intend to find our own accommodation
somewhere in Kuta or Legian for the rest of the stay. Does
someone know of a place that is clean and airconditioned
that is around $30 AUD a night that might be good to stay
    at?
My second concern is that my wife is of Chinese appearance,
is there any ill feeling towards Chinese or are they just
treated the same as anyone else? It wasn't a problem for us
    back in 1994.
Thirdly (due to the economic crises) are the street hawkers
and shop keepers more determined to make a sale? Taxi
driver's any worse? Or is it pretty much the same as before?
Are the bars right on the beach opened up again or are they
gone for good? Sorry about all the questions, we are just
trying to decide where to go, any help would be appreciated
    from a recent visitor there.
    Cheers, Bill.

to chat on Saturdays at 1:15 P.M. East Coast U.S. Time (6:15
P.M. UK, European Time) OR, Sundays at 4:15 P.M. U.S.
East Coast Time (12:15 A.M. UK Time). The website is:
    www.warung.co.id/chatframes.html My e-mail address is
listed above. This would be better than just posting here
and waiting 24 hours or longer for non-responsive answers
and comments. It would be nice to have lots of chatters
putting in lots of good information in real time.

  129. LP update - Phillippines
    Created by: vibe (vivbeu@yahoo.com)
[Timestamp: Thu 13 May, 14:36 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

    Just returned from Phillies :
Palawan - still no flights from PP to anywhere but Manila. Negros Navigation only goes to Bacolod, Negros from PP.
WG&A Ferries intends to have ships from Manila to Coron by July 99.
Weather continues to be a bit rainy and roads from PP to & from El Nido still very difficult (we had to sleep in our jeepney at Tay Tay, which I am told is normal, but we got stuck in the mud several times the next day - took 17 hrs.
Bacolog, Negros - the Palm Inn Hotel no longer exists and further down the street - the Halili Inn is where we stayed and was the worst place in Asia I have ever been and now call it "Halili's House of Hell" - filfty and crawling with roaches & a resident huge spider in the filfthy bathroom. Go anywhere else.
Cebu - shipping details are published in the Cebu Freeman.
    Cebu Ferries: www.wgasuperferry.com/cebu_ferries
Romblon: None of the places to eat exist anymore. The only western restaurant is Jak's run by an Englishman named David and family. Great food. None of the hotels in the LP exist either, except for the Marble House, as it is called now. 2 new hotels there now - the Bayview Manion, 550 & 650 for spotless double with a/c & includes breakfast and the Plaza Hotel (or something like that) with rooms about the same price. Marble House has cheaper accommodation and just fans too
    .
Suggestions: If you are a fairly large person - my husband is 6'1" and 226 lbs - and you plan to travel on local transport, ie jeepneys and Ceres Buses, if you can spare the pesos (and it ususally is very cheap) and especialy if you are travelling for 8 hrs or more, do yourself a favour and buy 2 SEATS as they cram an enormous amount of people in a tiny area. The seats are built for their build, not ours and can become an endurance test over along period of time!

I just learned that I may be leaving on a last minute
courier flight (in less than 48 hours) to Manila. I haven't
had a chance to research the area and could really use some
    help.
I would only be there for 7 days and would want to spend as
little time traveling to and from Manila as possible (e.g.,
up to half a day each way).
I want to go to just one place, something that is
out-of-the-way and located on the water (preferably an
island). I'm looking for very inexpensive accomodations,
peace and quiet (very few tourists), and great seafood.
Snorkeling and motorbike or bike rental would be great, if
possible. I'm also hoping I can find a place that will not
be too hot -- or at least one that has a nice sea breeze.
I would like suggestions on a good place to go,
where to stay, directions on how to get there, some idea of
costs, likely weather this week, etc.
Any help greatly appreciated as time is short!
    Thanks,
    DHG

  140. millenium in krabi/phi phi

I'm hoping to go to Krabi or Phi Phi for millenium with a
fairly large group of people. I've been to Ko Phangan and
Ko Tao before but not Krabi and Phi Phi. They look really
beautiful and i've read that the snorkelling and diving is
really good, but my freinds arent convinced that we'll be
able to find accomodation and something good to do on new
years eve. Can anyone recommend a nice, mid to high price
bungalow operation on Phi Phi or around Krabi which will
take (and keep!) advance bookings from the uk ?? (I've tried
the internet ones on the Thai Tourist site but they are
    mostly pricey hotels)
Also - any recommendations for new years eve? are there
beach parties on Phi Phi or is it more club/bar based??
Last time i went to Phangan i thought it had become dirty
and generally nasty - so i dont want to go to Phi Phi if its
been spoiled too. Also, i dont want to go somewhere too
    quiet!!
    Any suggestions would be

I want to thank everybody for changing my mind about
spending all three weeks of my vacation in Bali. I have
decided to spend the majority of my time in Sulawesi thanks
to a number of recommendations I recieved here on the Thorn

was a really useful source of information for me,
    definitely worth checking out.
So if anyone has any more sound advice on Sulawesi, like
places to stay, great snorkeling spots, good dive
operations, and windsurfing if it's available. Please let
    me know,
    Happy travels,

    Hey
Me and my boyfriend are going to Mondoro island last in
    June and most of July.
We want some tip about the Island and we have some
    questions.
We are gping to stay in a place called Coco Beach near
    Puerto Galera in the north.
Is there any places to go - attractions like waterfalls,
    mountains or things like that?
Can we rent bicycles, a car, motorcycles or how do we best
get around avoiding too many tourists?
How is the weather in this time?
Can we use Visa- or mastercard in Puerto Galera?
In what conditions are the roads?
We also want to go around the island. We have planned to
Pandan Island, Roxas and San JosΘ.
Is there any attractions in the cities?
    Anything else to tell?
I will be greatful if you can help me with some of my
    questions. Thanks.

  150. Watch out, Vegetarians !
    Created by: Dora
[Timestamp: Sat 8 May, 15:48 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

If you care about animals and do not want to watch them
being slaughtered - a word of advice on rafting trips in
Nepal: I have been a vegetarian for the past 25 years. I
knew that on my rafting trip most people would eat meat and
that the supply boat carried meat supplies for 2 days. It
is the kind of thing you learn to live with. I have
stopped preaching about animal rights since years. Making a
statement by my actions rather than talking and trying to
convince others. But when on the 5.th day the expedition
leader bought four live chickens to kill them in front of
our eyes for that night's "spicy chicken pizza", it came as
a shock to me. I saw how they tried to break the cockrels
wings to tie them down. It deeply upset me... In that
particular case I magaged to "save" the chickens and they
travelled downstream with us for 2 days before we released
them. I made 4 friends and 16 enemies. But never mind. So if
you are a vegetarian and care about animals and want to go
on an adventure trip, check beforehand if they plan to kill
animals on your trip to cater for westerners that can not
handle to be without meat for more than 2 days.
At least you can chose then or mentally prepare yourself.
Compassion is unconditional and includes ALL sntient beings.

[Timestamp: Wed 24 March, 22:28 Wagga Wagga Standard Time]

Hi, we are planning a three week holiday to the Philippines,
and would like some information on a few places.
The first week we will stay on Borocay Island (which has
    been organised).
The second week we would like to head to go to Baguio, then
onto Banaue etc. Does anyone have suggestions as to how to
travel around this area and time taken etc. We are limited
with time so is it possible to fly to Baguio? I have read
that there are no longer flights from Manila. I am
concerned that we will not be able to see everything in 5-7
days. Are there any good tours about (that don't cost a
    fortune?)
The third week we plan to travel (somehow) to the Palawan.
I'd love to stay in El Nido, but understand it is very
expensive. Is it best to pre-book accomodation or wait
until we get there and the best way to get to Palawan from
Manila? Or any other suggestions of other islands to
    visit (with good diving)?
    Thankyou.
