Does anyone know to what extent there is an anti-American
feeling in Taiwan following the bombing of the
Chineese embassy? Thanks.

Been nothing about it in the Bangkok papers anyway. The
whole thing in Red China is viewed here largely as something
the government has used to distract the people's attention
away from the anniversary of Tienamen Square. The Chinese
press on the mainland at first reported that the embassy
bombing was deliberate! Then they claimed that NATO and
Clinton had REFUSED to apologise, even though they had
apologised several times. The reds also have not reported
any of the alleged Serb attrocities aginst the Kosovo
Muslims, instead parroting Milosovic's claim that NATO bombs
had forced the refugees to flee. I imagine the whole affair
has been more accurately reported on Taiwan.
(Oddly enough, it was a British Tornado that bombed the
embassy in Belgrade, but the mainland Chinese press has been
blaming it all on Slick Willie. I notice the Brits have been
laying low and letting the Americans take all the flak. And
just where the hell are the Saudis in all this? They always
claim the West doesn't do enough for Muslims. So now the
NATO forces are bombing allegedly Christian Serbs to protect
ethnic Albanian Muslims and the Saudis are doing fanny adams
to help. The old situation of damned if you do and damned if
    you don't.)

I was in Taiwan on business 2 weeks ago and there certainly
did not appear to be any problem. I was asked what I thought
and just said that it was a very unfortunate accident.
    Good luck
ps. go to the Indian Bar/Restaurant in Taipei
