Hi, What's the best way to Tioman Island from Singapore?
Should I go overland to Mersing and take a boat -or- take
the catamaran from Singapore. (Or shall I just fly?) With
your suggestion, can you give me directions, costs and
travel time? Thanks in advance.

This information is old, but back in1991 we took a
hydrofoil out of Singapore to Tioman Island. I think it
took 2-3 hours and did not cost that much. When we
researced it back then this was the best way to go.

Just been to tioman - great time.
Bus from singapore to Mersing about RM16 and fast Ferry to
the Island (about 1.5 Hrs) for RM25 is the cheapest option
and the ferry stops at all the beach jettys. If you catch
the ferry from singapore or fly you then need to get to your
final destination and local travel prices are highish.

Flying from Sing is pricey (about S$150 e-w) but from KL is
much less (about MYR120 e-w)....and pretty small planes (20
    seater or so)

You can take the ferry from the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal
in S'pore to Tioman. Departure is at 8.30am and travelling
time is approx 4 hrs. Single-trip fare is S$90 while the
    return-fare is S$168.

If you take the boat be sure you're at the pier not too late. Last time we got in a traffic jam and missed the boat although it had not left yet. But the customs was closed already. No money return !!
