Howdy,
I am off to Phuket on May 16th with my partner and we would
really appreciate the goss on some nice places to eat or
visit.
Also, any tips on good snorkelling spots would be
appreciated.
Cheers....Carly.

There is daily cruise to Coral Island. Departute at 9.00 am
and return at 4.00pm. Cost 900 baht. Good corals to see and
all very shallow and easily noticeable. Hundreds of fish to
    swim around you.

There is a Japanese-run pearl farm. You can get some great
bargains in pearls, if that's your thing. (Might be able to
resell them at home???) As to dining, the island's full of
great European eateries. But I prefer the small Thai food
shops -- cheap and delicious. But Southern Thai food is
ususally spicy! Rent yourself a jeep in town and roam the
island. It's a big place with mountains in the middle.
Beautiful scenery to see just driving across it.

My first advise to you is to leave Phuket as soon as
possible and catch the ferry to The Phi Phi Islands
instead. It is a bit touristy but not near the horrible
situation in Phuket. The snorkelling is really good too.
Hire a long tail boat for a day and the driver will take
you to some amazing spots if you ask him to.
During mornings and early afternoon you can swim out to the
reef at Phi Phi Long Beach and see sharks.
    Have a lovely holiday
    Karin
