Keen to know if there is any island or islands not too far
from bangkok where naked sunbathing \ topless jogging by
the beach or simply having party in the night without
offending the locals up there.
thanks in advance.

Go to Ibiza or somewhere similar!!
I hope if you choose to go topless that the local people
stare at you and make you feel sleezy and cheap

You missed a recent posting on topless bathing in Thailand.
It got many responses. The consenses was that it is not an
appropriate country for topless bathing(we'll have to
assume jogging would be included!). The cultural mores are
not conducive to public nudity, that is unless you are a
bar girl/protitute, and altho the officals may not approach
you and make you dress the Thais' will certainly judge you
as trashy. Most of the posters felt tourists need to be
sensitive to their host country and follow the common rules
    of conduct.
Of course there were those who disagreed.

There's a beach on Koh Phangan, (the first one
anti-clockwise from Hadrin East) where nude sunbathing is
the norm. There is only one guest house on that beach and
the owners are sympathetic to naturists. Be careful on Koh
Phangan around the full moon. Lots of lowlife farangs
    flock to the place then.
Otherwise, I have to agree with the other posters: Thailand
is probably not the best place to let it all hang out.

and I have lived in Thailand for 18 months and before that
Malaysia for 2 years. It may appear to be the norm but that
does NOT make it acceptable, whether in Koh Phangnan, Bali,
Phuket,Pattaya or Surfers Paradise. Keep your boobs,
genitals and butts covered unless there is a LAW that says
it is OK. That is the only true test as to whether or not
you are in a society, and at a specific location, where you
may let it all hang out.

My God - they're just breasts. Why do you all find these so
offensive? I can understand the cultural mores and the
desire to respect the beliefs of the locals, but many of you
are not local Thais, and yet you appear to take Patricia's
question as a personal affront to yourselves. Relax!

Jeezus Christ, I expected to see some reasonable people on
THIS site at least. Instead, we've got Cotton Mather and his
Puritan bastards running rampant. (Friggin' Cromwell is
probably mounting his horse to join in right now.)
YES, you DON'T go topless/nude where it offends the Thais.
And that is just what poor Patricia asked to know! Remote
beaches are okay, but just don't try it around the well
frequented areas. (Try the beaches below Pattaya, especially
on week days, not week ends.) And if all else fails, go to
Club Med on Phuket. The French, Italian and German tourists
all sunbathe topless there -- on the beach and poolside.
(Doesn't freak out the Thai vendors, who approach the
topless gals to sell items and maybe ogle a bit.) I've been
there (freebie of my journalism sideline) and even seen
Japanese and Hong Kong newly-wed women going topless to show
their modernity, free-thinking or whatever. But one poor
Chinese gal was built like the Great Wall and her boobs had
probably never seen the light of day before. The newly-wed
laid out in the sun until she was absolutely scarlet. I saw
her the next day and she was almost in agony. Her husband
wasn't in much better shape. So much for their honeymoon.
Lesson: beware of the SE Asian sun. The locals stay out of
it for a good reason. (They also consider a white skin
beautiful; dark skin is a mark of low class -- e.g. rice
    planting farmer or labourer.)

No. Not near BKK. Or anywhere else in SEA. The next
APPROPRIATE place would be in Australia. If nude
sunbathing/topless jogging is an important holiday pasttime
to you (:-))) can┤t help but laugh), you┤d best go to (stay
in) Europe. Since you┤ll go to Thailand anyway, you better
stay on Samui or Phangan. They are used to rude farangs
    there.
