I'm staying in Bali from 15th of May through 15th of June.
Does anybody know what to pay for a cheap room or bungalow
in Kuta/Legian (maybe Sanur, not shure yet) for a month?
Furthermore what is the best/cheapest way from the airport
to Kuta/Legian and do they have ATM's at the airport?!
Thanks a mill!!!!!

    Hi Arnold,
no ATM at the airport. Don't change too much money at
the airport, they rip you off. There's ATM machines in
Kuta if I remember correctly, but I could have Kuta
mistaken by some other island. Otherwise plenty and
plenty of moneychangers. Shop around a bit, it could
save you a few thou. rupiahs.
The cheapest way from the airport to Kuta is to take
a bemo. When you walk out of the door at the airport, turn
    right and leave
the airport premisses. On the corner there at the road,
wait for a bus to pass. These are small busses, and pick
up people from the side of the street. It won't cost you
more than 2000 rupia to Kuta, probably less, but I am not
sure about inflation at the moment.
If you like to dance and drink, don't forget to go to
paddy's pub for happy hour and then across the street to
Sari club for a dance. Might see you there, I'll be there
    end of May.
    Enjoy!!!!

There ARE ATMs at the airport, I SWEAR.
Also: pre-paid taxis at the airport may be a rip off but it
still only works out to 2-3 dollars if you've got too much
    stuff to carry.
I used to pay about 200000Rps for a month for a room with a
fan but I was a good bargainer and that was before the
    crash.
Expect to pay = $100 AU for a simple room with bathroom and
    fan for a month (minimum).

It would be crazy to stay an entire month at one hotel or
homestay. Travel around and stay in different places. Go
read the LP Guidebook on Bali for an overview.

  7. stay in ubud Added by: me

kuta is fun - for like a day. you should go there if you're
looking for other tourists, beer and dancing. for a little
culture, head out to ubud and buy tickets to performances at
the tourist office. tickets are very inexpensive,
transportaion is arranged and you will enjoy the shows. in
kuta, things cost more so you should expect to pay about $60
USD to stay in a clean and modest room, breakfast included.
if you tell the person you are intending to stay a long time,
they should be willing to discount the price by almost a
third, depending on how good your bargaining skills are.
have a good time, don't worry to excess about the upcoming
    elections, and be safe.
i do suggest ubud though. i stayed there a month doing field
research and was able to stay at a nice bungalow with fan for
    about $1.75 a day.
