I just returned from bali this week... And I want to warn people... Do not walk down any streets day or night with a bag, backpack, purse etc... Just last week I saw three different people have there bags cut off them by a high speed motobike with a razorblade... Some people have been cut... Also a woman staying at my hotel was dragged off her moving motorbike in an attempt to cut off her shoulderbag,,, these guys are ruthless... Two of the robberies I saw were on legian st near double six road the third was on gado gado road,,, be careful,If you must rent a bike dont carry any sort of bag on you....good luck.. sem

Just like I thought, as hard times get harder the
desperation increases, and theft like this will increase,
    increase, and increase. Traveller beware

I've gone to Bali for the past five years and spent the
month of March(99) there. I've never heard as many stories
of theft as this year. Personally I didn't have any problems
but you have to keep your guard up.

I have a 3-week trip to Bali and Lombok booked for 17th July
and had planned to take my 3 children (11, 9 and 7 years).
I'm waiting to see how things pan out after the elections on
7th(?) June before paying the balance. At this stage, I'm
thinking we might not go at all. Any opinions? We're not
planning to hang around Kuta much, but will be at Legian for
    the first few nights.
