Fuck it!

I'm in Great Britain at the moment but I'm seriously
thinking of sacking my job in and jumping on the next plane
out of here to do some serious Island hopping around Asia.
Anyone any ideas what jabs I'd need and what the prospects
are like out there for finding work? I'm good with excel,
access etc most computer packadges but I'm sooooo bored
here.
I'd also like to hear from anyone who has done the same ie
just thought fuck it and left.
Any thoughts?

'bout to do it, 1 1/2 weeks to work out then I'm off.
SE Asia And S. Pacific.....Monster diving Island hopping
dope smoking grooving mother of a trip, No fixed time
    neither.
Stop playing with your keyboard and get on the train.
As for working......I've paid for my penance with blood
    sweat and sacrifice.
See you out there..and don't bottle it mate.
    Take care

    Mate,
I have been dreaming of doing just the same thing, I am
sick of the two weekers, and just want to jump in there.
Spend as much time as I feel like hopping around asia,
maybe six months to a year, you know really get it out of
    your system.
Can't get the balls to do it however! So good luck man! I
hope you have a great time.
    No Regrets!!!

The Internet is just really catching on in SE Asia. If you
can program or do HTML well enough to set up websites, you
may be able to land some decent work. Check the want ad
pages on line at the Bangkok Post website periodically.
(Think it's www.bangkokpost.com) Of course, as to island
hopping ... well, the jobs will be in the major cities, not
in really out of the way places. But it's still better than
Blighty or the US. (Get's you far away from our looney
    militant political "leaders.")

    Do it mate....
I left school went straight into work and have now decided
to give it up and DO IT!!! Not exactly sure what I am doing
but not running away from anything like some people might -
don't want to take any emotional baggage with when I am
going to have the time of my life for 12 months...
Get on the backpacking wagon.....do not delay!!!

don't rely on your MS Office knowledge to get you a job
there are an awful lot of asian people who are very good at
all this and can live for a fortnight on what you would
hope to earn in a day. you will need to bring more than
that. and don't forget there is still a recession in se asia
generally. caveat ad astra per ardua or some such - is there
a polyglot in the audience please.

  6. Question... Added by: kiks
[Timestamp: Tue 18 May, 15:08 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Why not just work to save a bundle of British Pounds in the
bank and go on an open-ended trip? Why would you want to go
to SE Asia....AND WORK?? You'll be miserable with your
wages, and going crazy cooped up in an office when you're
already in the middle of such paradise that you've dreamed
of back in gloomy Manchester? It doesn't make sense. When
you're out of money, go back to England, and save for more
of the mighty Pound (yet again). Coz I tell ya, once in a
SE Asian paradise, that's when you'll REALLY want your
    freedom.
