The main focus of the study is on the history of Ukrainian publishing enterprises and printing shops in the context of early modern cultural trends. The period from the sixteenth to the late eighteenth centuries is characterized as the time of the coexistence of manuscript and printed books. The last chapter of the study deals with Ukrainian book publishing of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
