London's Sunday Times confirms our "Eyes Wide Shut" info

Bang. Last Sunday's Times reported the confirmation that Stanley Kubrick's still-going (like the Energizer bunny, I suppose) Eyes Wide Shut production is indeed based on the 1926 Arthur Schnitzler novel Traumnovelle. Also mentioned was the fact that filming did indeed take place in Madame JoJo's in SoHo (supposedly a pretty good transvestite bar...but don't ask me how I know, ok?). That's great news for CA -- we've been reporting just those very things for months now. Although the Times article did also mention that Tom Cruise did not dress us in drag...well, our scoopers say otherwise.

To see what they have said, and check out the photos of the deserted sets (hey, you don't take photos when Stanley's walking through the shot, right?), check out the Eyes Wide Shut page.

CA receives two big nods from the media for the end of the year! This week's People magazine chose CA as one of its pick of the top multimedia items of 1997, a fact that makes me feel pretty damn good. We're in such company as the computer games Riven and Tomb Raider 2 and Harry Knowles and the Royal Family's web sites. If I had to choose which one to hang out with at the aftershow party, it'd haveta be Lara Croft.

CA was also selected as one of the top five "Movie Outlaws" sites on the Net by none other than film review God Roger Ebert for Yahoo Life magazine for '97. I'd like to think I run a pretty good place, present some quality scoops (and gossip, of course darling!), but Ebert's review left me glowing. All I can say is -- Wow. Thanks man.

A Christmas update... While things have been very hectic in my life these past few days, I've just sent a big catch-up update to the site. Further updates, including pages for new films, will be arriving over the course of the next few days. Contributions of digital turkey and stuffing can be sent to the regular scoop address (and would be appreciated!)

More gifts for you await you on these sites!

"Quest for Camelot" toyline images... are avaliable for downloading at www.toymania.com, a very cool website run by raving toy manaic Jason Geyer. While there's been no sizeable publicity on what character designs so far, Geyer's site is the best place yet to see what the characters (as sculpted for Kenner's upcoming toy line) will look like. And what better time than at Christmas to sneak a peek at some new toys?!

For those "Hulk" fans waiting for the movie, here's a present right now... Hulk-fanatic Kevin Ryan Teufer snapped some photos of Universal Studios Florida's Hulk roller-coaster ride, the "Gamma Accelerator" which is presently under construction right now. He's posted them to his website, and while Teufer does warn the site takes about ten minutes to completely download, there's many pictures, they're large and the detail and clarity are high.
