What is the iPhone Dev Center?

The iPhone Dev Center provides a complete set of resources for developing iPad, iPhone and iPod touch applications, including software downloads, getting started videos, coding how-to's, sample code, and access to a wealth of technical documentation in the iPhone Reference Library.

Can I obtain code-level technical support for development with pre-release software?

While code-level technical support for pre-release software is not available from Apple, members of the iPhone Developer Program can post their questions to the Apple Developer Forums. Additionally, the iPhone Dev Center provides links to technical resources that can assist you with your development. You may also file a bug report if you feel that you've identified a bug or would like to file an enhancement request.

What are the system requirements for the iOS SDK?

To develop with iOS SDK and participate in the iPhone Developer Program you must have an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Refer to the iOS SDK Read Me document for full details on system requirements. You must be registered as an Apple Developer in order to access the iOS SDK and iOS SDK Read Me document.

I am not a member of the iPhone Developer Program. How do I begin development for iPad?

Registered Apple Developers can access the the iOS SDK 4 and iPad development resources by visiting the iPhone Dev Center. If you have not yet registered as an Apple Developer, you can do so now. iPhone Developer Program Membership is only required once you're ready to test your developed applications on devices and for App Store distribution.

Who has access to iOS SDK 4?

Registered Apple Developers have access to iOS SDK 4. If you are not yet an Apple Developer, you can register for free.

I'm not an iPhone Developer Program member, but I am registered as an Apple Developer. What do I have access to?

As a free registered Apple Developer you have access to the latest version of the iOS SDK and the related resources and information available to you on the iPhone Dev Center. To get access to the tools and information necessary to test applications on devices, you will need to join the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program.
