Reference Manual

The most detailed documentation on Probe is available under this section. The links below go to subsections of the Reference Manual, most of them containing one level of subsections or more.

• Frames. This section deals with the the non-overlapping windowing system of the Probe main window. A Reference and a Hints section is available.

• Probe Components. Each frame of the Probe main window has a Probe component in it, such as a Folder Browser, a Tree Browser, a Disk Monitor, a Log Window etc. This section describes these components.

• Operation. In this section, the basic operations of Probe, such as Navigating the storage, File Selection, File Filters, Subfolder Handling, File Operations and File Search are discussed.

• Storage Specific. Under this section, all details specific to handling Compressed Archives (ZIP, ARJ, RAR, TAR, GZ, CAB, ...), remote sites (The FTP Client), File Collectors, and local File Realizations are documented.

• Settings. The main window of Probe has a 'Settings' pull-down menu, where most settings for Probe are available. These include Browser Settings, File Operation Settings, Paths Settings, Compression Settings, Remote Settings, and Realization Settings.

• Examples. ### This section contains some examples of how Probe can be used to perform some ordinary and advanced file operations.

• Keyboard Accelerators by Function. By using keyboard accelerators, most operations can be started faster, compared to starting the same operation using the mouse. The accelerators are listed based on the type of their functionality on this page.

• Keyboard Accelerators by Qualifier. This page lists the accelerators based on which keyboard qualifier (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) is used when invoking them.
