Settings - Compression
Probe has two different ways of handling compressed archives:
Currently only CAB archives are handled in the second way. Some of the external command line utilities are shipped with Probe, while others which are shareware products, must be added manually to Probe.

The archive formats that can be handled by Probe, without adding any third party command line utilities are:

In order to access ARJ type of archives, the command line utility ARJ.EXE, version 2.50 or later, is needed. Checking this box brings up a dialog that can be used to locate ARJ.EXE.

Archives of RAR type can be browsed and decompressed without providing any third party command line utility. When wanting to create RAR archives using Probe though, RAR.EXE, version 2.00 or later is needed. Checking this box brings up a dialog that can be used to locate RAR.EXE.

In order to access JAR type of archives, the command line utility JAR32.EXE, version 1.01 or later, is needed. Checking this box brings up a dialog that can be used to locate JAR32.EXE.

Shell support for an archive type means associating Probe with the particular type, and registering an icon to be used for the type. When double-click archive.
NOTE: In order to browse compressed archives of the types mentioned above, Probe need not provide shell support for it.
