The Beyond region has big beautiful lakes, large rivers, small beautiful mountain lakes, rushing mountain streams and wonderful fishing.
Fishing Licenses are usually available from cafés near the fishing areas. For more information, some contact numbers are given below.
The Alpes-Maritimes (06) has hundreds of mountain streams and rivers stocked with trout. The river trout-fishing season is from March until the third Sunday in September (1997: Sat 8 Mar to Sun 21 Sept). Fishing season for the high-mountain lakes begins the first Saturday in July. All of the stock trout comes from the trout farms (centre de pisciculture) at Roquebillière (map C5). The Alpes-Maritimes will have night carp fishing in 1997 at the Lac du Broc. This will be a "no-kill" type of fishing, where the carp must be thrown back in after being caught.
