Windows Messenger

Windows Messenger (not to be confused with MSN Messenger) is a service within Windows XP/2000/NT. This service was used in the past for sending messages between its servers and clients within enterprise networks. Most companies no longer employ this service. As an individual computer user, this service is useless. Since this service is activated by default in Windows XP/2000/NT, spammers have begun a non-ethical use of the Windows Messenger Service, turning it into an untraceable spam tool.

Windows Messenger notifications are gray windows that pop up on your computer, requiring you to click “OK” to close them. Ironically, most of these spammed messages are sent from addresses offering to sell you a program to stop it. Don’t do it!

Windows Messenger Blocker is activated by standart and can be chaged in the preferences. Once activated the problem is resolved. Forever!

Using this tool will not affect any useful messenger service, such as Microsoft NetMeeting, AOL, ICQ, our you2meet or the Yahoo Messenger.

Note: You need Administrator rights to change the status off the Windows Messenger Service.
