JPEG

JPEG is a acronym for Joint Picture Experts Group. JPEG is a bitmap file format which is popular for storing full colour images. The format uses a user defined amount of lossy compression, meaning that there is a trade off between file size and image quality in that the more compression is used (smaller file sizes), the lower the quality of the image.
