IEEE1394

Fast interface popular for transferring DV digital video. Also known as Firewire or i-Link. IEEE allows up to 127 devices to to plugged into a single IEEE bus, with data transfer rates as fast a 400Mb per second. IEEE1394 devices are "hot-swappable", allowing you to plug devices in and out without having to reboot your system.

IEEE1394 is supported under Windows 98 and Windows 2000. If you are using Windows 98, we suggest that you use the Second Edition version of the operating system, as this version has much more robust support than the earlier version.

i-Link

The Sony name for IEEE1394.

Invalid Layer Reference

Layer items can only refer to layers below themselves, they cannot refer to layers above them. A reference to a layer above the layer item is called an invalid layer reference. EditStudio does not allow you to create an invalid layer reference.

Expansion connector slot inside the PC. Superceded by the PCI slot.
