Protocol Stack Troubleshooting
POSSIBLE PROBLEMS
You have one or more of the following network connectivity problems.
- ODI driver problems.
- LAN WorkPlace (TCP/IP) connectivity problems.
- SLIP/PPP connectivity problems.
- Ensure that your SLIP/PPP support is loaded.
- If the DOS command MEM /C | MORE produces lines containing NESL, NCOMX, NWREMOTE, and TCPIP, go on to step 2. Otherwise, run STARTNET.BAT.
- Enable SLPMON (Modem Monitor).
- Open the Modem Monitor and view the configuration and statistics. Use this information to determine if your are sending and
receiving packets. If you are sending and receiving packets, contact your dial-up network service provider to ensure that the
remote service is properly configured.
- Verify that your modem is functioning properly. Use any third party modem software (or the Windows Terminal program).
Resolve any modem connectivity problems and try your dialer operation again.
- NetWare Client (IPX) connectivity problems.
- You still use IPX.COM as your IPX transport.
- NETX.EXE (aka NET3, NET4, NET5, EMSNETX, or XMSNETX) is unable to find a NetWare file server.

Possible Causes:
- You have physical network problems.
- You are using the wrong frame type.
- Your routers are not passing IPX packets.
- You have no NetWare file server on your network segment.
