TCP/IP Protocol Stack Problem: IP Resolver FTP.NOVELL.COM fails.
CURRENT SITUATION
- The Virtual Device Driver (VxD) \NET\BIN\VTCPIP.386 did not load when Windows started.
- VTCPIP.386 automatically loads if TCPIP.EXE is running before Windows starts, even if there is no DEVICE=VTCPIP.386 line in the SYSTEM.INI [386enh] section.
USER ACTION
- Try to PING FTP.NOVELL.COM from a DOS Box inside Windows.
- Make sure that only one copy of WINSOCK.DLL exists on the DOS PATH.
- Make sure that only one copy of WLIBSOCK.DLL exists on the DOS PATH.
- Make sure that only one copy of TCPIP.EXE exists on the DOS PATH.
- Make sure that only one copy of VTCPIP.386 exists on the DOS PATH.
- Make sure that only one copy of NOVASYNC.EXE exists on the DOS PATH.
NOTE: Be sure to include \WINDOWS\SYSTEM to the list of directories that you search as Windows will automatically add this to the list of directories from which DLLs and VxDs will be loaded.
