Dialer and Modem Troubleshooting

• Your modem is not directly supported by the LAN WorkPlace Dialer.
  • If your modem is Hayes compatible, select the Hayes compatible modem type. This will limit you to a 2400 baud connection.
  • Connect to your Internet Service Provider.
  • Once you are connected to your Internet Service Provider, click here to obtain the latest update to the Dialer's modem list.
  • After extracting, move AIOMDMS.MDC to \NET\HSTACC.
  • If your modem is still not supported, click here to obtain the tools to create a modem entry for your specific modem.
  • Use the NWCWRT.EXE patch to edit AIOMDMS.MDC and add support for your modem.
  • Retry your dialer operation again.

• The Dialer does not connect when calling.
  1. Check your serial hardware.
  2. Watch the dialer connect, using SLPMON.

• Your modem does not answer (a call-back call).
  • Make sure that the TCP/IP serial support is loaded.
  • Use SLPMON to identify problems in the serial driver configuration.
