Compare More Easily in Apple Mail

In Apple Mail, if you need to work back and forth between two different views of Mail's mailbox contents, you can do so quite easily. For example, you might want to look at a mailbox holding all filtered-in sales orders from the past week while also looking at a smart mailbox showing unanswered customer questions.

To avoid constantly clicking between mailbox views and losing your context each time, choose File > New Viewer window to get a second window and then arrange each window as desired.

Keynote Editing in Action on the iPad

At Apple's media event introducing the iPad (see Hands-on Impressions of the iPad, 29 January 2010), Glenn Fleishman and I wanted to know what the experience of creating a Keynote presentation would be like. Inspired by a blog post from Fraser Speirs ("iPad Fallacy #1: 'It's not for content creation'"), I created a short video of Glenn manipulating objects (resizing, repositioning, rotating) and activating the annotation controls (including a laser pointer) in Keynote's presentation mode. (A high-definition version is available at the video's page on YouTube.)

Comments about Keynote Editing in Action on the iPad

It's comforting to know that Glenn can fall back on hand modeling if this whole internet thing doesn't work for him.

I think the Internet thing is just a very long and complicated springboard to modeling, which is his first love.

Is that a pirate shirt I see? My hands! My beautiful hands!

So is there a video converter dongle to connect to projectors?
Jeff Carlson2010-02-04 19:08
Presumably. We didn't see any iPads connected to any displays, but that's the only way we can imagine you'd be able to output video.
what i'd love to know is if the iPad is plugged into an external display/projector, does the iPad go into presenter mode - ie current and next slide with a timer? that would be fantastic if it does
Jeff Carlson2010-02-05 11:37
There weren't any iPads connected to projectors (unless I missed it), so I don't know if the presenter mode is there. We'll have to wait and see.

As per Apple specifications, there is a Dock connector to VGA converter, so that seems pretty much settled for me ;-)

As someone who uses iWork for his business I can't wait to see what mindblowing update happens with iWork '10. With the changes they've made for the iPad I'm having high hopes!
Boy, am I unimpressed by this video.
Jeff Carlson2010-02-08 16:46
Unimpressed in what way? With the capabilities of the iPad? Please elaborate.
