Adjust Multiple Column Sizes Simultaneously

Within the Finder, Column View enables you to see folder hierarchies, with each subsequent level getting its own column. Dragging on the double lines at the base of a column divider changes the preceding column's width. But Option-drag on any divider, and all the columns in the window change to the same width.

iPhone OS 3.1.3

Apple has released iPhone OS 3.1.3 to provide a couple of performance improvements and address several security threats. Changes include improved accuracy on the iPhone 3GS's battery level display, a fix for a bug that prevented some third party programs from launching, and a fix for an issue that caused application crashes when using the Japanese Kana keyboard.

Also eliminated are three security vulnerabilities that could lead to application crashes and arbitrary code execution after playing maliciously crafted audio files, viewing maliciously crafted TIFF files, or visiting a maliciously configured FTP server. Another fix prevents remote image or video content being loaded in Mail even when remote image loading is turned off. And finally, the update blocks a vulnerability that could enable an attacker with physical access to a locked iPhone or iPod touch to gain control of personal data via the recovery mode. I read this with the article about scheduling updates in mind (http://db.tidbits.com/article/10895). This is of interest to me as I am on HughesNet which limits my bandwidth and iTunes does not allow you to schedule updates.

I may be late to this party, but I have found you can download this on a computer your iPhone is not synced to and move the OS update to another computer. It is located in ~/Library/iTunes.

I've heard comments in the Twitterverse today about problems with the update.. can you confirm?

The update failed for me the first time I tried it. No harm to my iPhone 3G S, though. Looking at the support doc I was sent to on Apple's web site (automagically!), I did a couple of things they recommended: (a) I upgraded iTunes to the one that just came out, and (b) I rebooted. I tried the iPhone update again and this time, it worked fine.

No issues with update. Battery life seems back to where it was with the previous version.
