DVcreators has released DVKitchen, a Mac OS X application for
publishing video on the Internet. It features batch video encoding,
integrated uploading and remote FTP server management, HTML code
generation, and still frame export, along with media publishing
functions.
The user can import a folder of movies and start encoding and
uploading with as few as two clicks, says Josh Mellicker, principal
DV Kitchen designer. He adds that DV Kitchen is the only software
available that includes built-in tools to help the user determine the
optimum encoding recipe for the movies they want to publish on the

Intelligent Assistancehas released its First Cut documentary editing
software and Finisher for adding b-roll and titles automatically to
a-roll (aka "radio") edits. These tools fit a new class of software
for editors called "Assisted Editing" because they assist the editor
by dramatically increasing productivity and reducing the time to
finished results, says co-developer and CEO of Intelligent
Assistance, Philip Hodgetts.
First Cuts was announced at the NAB Final Cut Pro Supermeet as "The
Assistant Editor" and automates the process of creating first cuts
with story arc, b-roll and lower third titles. Editors can use these
first cuts for inspiration or as the basis of their own edit, says
Hodgetts.
Finisher, previously unannounced, fits at the other end of the

IMSI/Design offers free version of IDX Renditioner Express
IMSI/Design has released a free version of IDX Renditioner Express
for Google SketchUp 6. The free version of IDX Renditioner Express --
which can be used for unlimited commercial or personal use -- plugs
directly into the Google SketchUp interface and integrates one-click
rendering with rendering capabilities.
The free version of IDX Renditioner Express supports renderings up to
640 x 480 pixels. You can work directly in SketchUp for revisions to
the model, materials, environments, and lighting. You can mix and
blend both natural and artificial lights, including an array of point
and spot light types. The product includes the LightWorks rendering
engine from LightWork Design.
The free version of IDX Renditioner Express for the PC is available

RapidWeaver updated to version 4.1
Realmac Software has announced a minor update to
RapidWeaver, its web site creation application
for Mac OS X.
Building on the all-new RapidWeaver 4.0, this
update includes both bug-fixes and some small new
features. RapidWeaver users can now enable Quick
Look Previews for their saved projects, and also
choose to have images automatically resized to a

MediaSilo adds direct FTP video upload
MediaSilo (http://www.mediasilo.com), an online video management and
collaboration leader, has eliminated browser-based upload limitations
with an integrated FTP solution. The new feature allows video file
upload without regard to file size, says CEO Kai Pradel.
The new upload feature integrates FTP and removes the limitations of
a browser upload, he adds. MediaSilo's suite of online video tools
includes its signature collaboration toolset, content management and
web broadcast channels. The integrated FTP upload feature maximizes
workflow in each of these three key components of the product with a
simple user interface, Pradel says. Dependent on workflow, users are
now able to output content from the desktop as well. MediaSilo has

Control unattended computers remotely with TeamViewer Host Module
TeamViewer (http://www.teamviewer.com ), a provider of solutions for
online communication and collaboration, now offers a Host Module
enabling the control of unattended remote computers. It connects two
computers, without manual confirmation of the unattended computer,
while maintaining the highest security standards.
TeamViewer solutions work via Internet, creating a secure connection
between two computers located anywhere in the world. Downloading the
Host Module generates an ID number and prompts the user to set a
password, both of which will be used to access the host computer.
Then a unique connection is established, and runs permanently in the
background of the host computer. To access the host computer, users
simply enter the host ID number and password as the partner details
on their TeamViewer session.
