This change in leadership comes as Craig Eisler has been promoted to a new role within E&D. Cocoatech (http://www.cocoatech.com) has updated PathFinder, a file browser and manager for Mac OS X, to version 5.0. It's a major rewrite that leverages the latest Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard") technologies, including Core Animation, FSEvents, Coverflow, Quicklook, ObjC-2.0, and more. Path Finder 5 now includes a Dual Pane file browser. A user can display two folders side by side in the same window, and easily Drag and Drop, Cut, Copy, and Paste files between the two. The application also includes a new Sidebar for Devices, Searches, Favorite Places and Network Shares. Pathfinder 5.0 costs US$39.95. Upgrades from earlier versions are US$19.95. A 30-day demo is available for download. PathFinder requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later. It's Universal Binary so runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs.

Smith Micro has released ExecutiveSync for the Mac (http://my.smithmicro.com/mac/executivesync/), an US$29.99 app designed to let you keep your work and personal files up-to-date between the home, office and on the road. With the software you indicate two folders -- whether on a laptop, desktop, backup device or remote server -- and hit synchronize. ExecutiveSync goes to work comparing 35 different file aspects for each file, updating changes and notifying you of conflicts. You can synchronize files with long names or foreign accents. By using more than just modification dates, you can synchronize files in time zones around the world. ExecutiveSync uses a "time and state" synchronization method to save detailed information about each file and avoid errors. It works with Mac OS X 10.4.11 or higher.

Syncro Software (http://www.oxygenxml.com/buy.html), the producer of Oxygen XML Editor, has announced the immediate availability of version 10 of its XML Editor, Schema Editor and XSLT/XQuery Debugger. It bundles the schema-aware XSLT 2.0 and XQuery processor from Saxonica. Saxon-SA is now available in all Oxygen editions at no additional cost. Version 10 also includes a new XML instance generator, better content completion offering proposals from included or imported XML Schema or XSLT modules, a better integration of the Intel XML Software Suite and updates the document frameworks and XML, XML Schema, XSLT, XPath and FOP processors. Additionally, the SVN support was also updated to include Subversion 1.5 features. Oxygen XML Editor and XSLT Debugger is available immediately in three editions. Centrify Corp. (http://www.centrify.com) -- a provider of Microsoft Active Directory-based auditing, access control and identity management solutions for non-Microsoft platforms -- has released Centrify DirectControl 4.2 for Mac OS X, which adds smart card-based login to Active Directory for single sign-on to Windows-integrated services and applications. Centrify leverages the PKI infrastructure provided by Apple and works with both Common Access Cards (CAC) and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards as well as with other cards that support the Apple TokenD interface such as the .NET smart card from Gemalto. The Mac Developer Network (MDN) with Steve Scott and Tim Isted will be hosting the UK's only independent Mac developer conference, MacDev 2009 (http://www.macdeveurope.com/), on April 16 and 17, 2009.
