Convergence

Convergence

Convergence means the positioning of the three electron beams with respect to each other. When the beams lay directly on top of each other it is the optimal configuration for a clear white pixel. If this is not the case, there will be coloured edges and less sharpness at lines and signs.
To check the level of the convergence distortion for your monitor, the Mitsubishi Monitor Test offers four test patterns:

Horizontal

Horizontal

Vertical

Vertical

Monitor Please also check for coloured edges on the corresponding test patterns. By switching off single colours, you can more accurately determine which colour is not positioned exactly.
High quality monitors offer the possibility to adjust the convergence using the OSD.
