A new environmental charge of US$100 will be levied on visitors to the Seychelles, commencing in January 1999. The money will be used for new conservation programs on the islands administered by the already very environmentally-aware government. The charge will enable visitors free access to some of the coral and bird sanctuaries on the islands.
