The Amazon basin is huge. Its about the same size as the continental United States – big enough to spend a considerable amount of time exploring. There are few roads, and travelling through the rainforest is tough. The most common form of transport is by riverboat or canoe along any of the 1,100 rivers which make up the river system of the Amazon basin. The Amazon basin incorporates parts of Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, and Venezuela.
