XRay 1.0.5 - award-winning "Get Info" utility

XRay 1.0.5 - award-winning "Get Info" utility

Belo Horizonte, Brazil - September 6, 2002

Rainer Brockerhoff announces the release of version 1.0.5 of XRay, the
File/Folder information utility for Mac OS X.

XRay offers users a much more detailed view of files, folders, applications
and volumes than Mac OS X's "Show Info" window does. Permissions can be
changed without resorting to obscure terminal commands. Type, creator and
extension can be examined and changed, and their effect on file-application
binding is shown immediately. Types, creators and extensions can be
selected from pop-up menus built from the system's own databases.

XRay can be run from the Finder's Contextual menu, the Services menu or by
dragging and dropping items onto the application's icon.

Third-party developers can write plug-ins that further augment XRay's
capabilities. A developer plug-in is included; more plug-ins will released
in the upcoming version 1.1, which will feature batch processing
capabilities.

This version has many bug fixes and minor improvements, among them:
- Support for registration over Kagi
- On-line version checking
- At the start of a run, XRay now checks if the tools, folders and files it
needs are present and have the correct permissions
- The "Bind All Similar Items..." dialog now gives detailed information
about which items will be affected by the binding
- In 10.2, the XRay Contextual Menu now shows filenames containing Japanese
or accented characters correctly

XRay is US$10 shareware. There's a two-week trial period during which XRay
will run with full functionality; after that, Administrator authorization
can be used only once during each run.

XRay can be downloaded from the product information page at:

10.1 is required, 10.1.5 or 10.2 recommended.
