Xeric Design Releases EarthDesk 4.0

Xeric Design Releases EarthDesk 4.0

January 22, 2007 - Xeric Design, Ltd. is pleased to announce the
release of EarthDesk 4.0, its award-winning, real-time dynamic
desktop map, for Macintosh OS X.

EarthDesk 4.0 has been rebuilt from the ground up as a modern Cocoa
product. We have also moved the application from the dock to the
System Preferences Panel and have added an optional menu item for
easy access to the most common settings.

EarthDesk replaces your static desktop with a photo-realistic image
of the Earth showing current sun, moon and city illumination as well
as real-time global cloud coverage (hurricanes, storms, and worldwide
weather systems) on your Macintosh or Windows desktop.

The software operates silently in the background, keeping your
desktop updated while you work. Unlike a screen saver, which only
appears when your system is idle, EarthDesk's dynamic desktop is
continuously displayed as your desktop background (and optionally as
a screen saver).

New in version 4.0:

- Rewritten in Cocoa.

- Moved from a standard application to a System Preferences Pane.

- Added an optional system menu icon for quick control of the desktop.

- Completely reworked interface... much easier to use.

EarthDesk is the only application of its kind to support accurate
moonlight, multiple monitors, eleven different map projections, as
well as political and satellite views.

EarthDesk requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or newer. Single user copies
may be purchased online for $19.95. Upgrades are available for $9.95
or $12.95 depending on the status of your pre-existing license.
