Smith Micro Introduces a New Mac Retail Product That Allows Small Business
to Begin Selling Online Today The Next Generation eCommerce Solution for
The Macintosh

San Francisco Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI), a developer and
marketer of Internet and communications software, today announced the
introduction of WebCatalog Builder for the Mac, a new retail eCommerce
software program that allows small business users to easily design and
establish an online store.

"WebCatalog Builder was developed to help small businesses accommodate the
increasing demands required to build Internet storefronts," said Chris
Lippincott, General Manager of Smith Micro Softwares Internet Solutions
Division. "We understand that small businesses want to focus on building
their business, and may not have the time or ability to become webmaster,
so we designed WebCatalog Builder to be an easy-to-use solution to quickly
and accurately get their products to market".

WebCatalog Builder offers everything you need to build your eBusiness from
site design to accepting orders. The unique easy-to-use wizard program
walks users through the design and launch phases of building an online
storefront, including offering over 250 templates to help them quickly
design an appealing online store. Users can host their eBusiness site with
Smith Micro or with any Internet service provider, register the site with
major search engines and begin taking orders immediately. The WebCatalog
Builder wizard approach allows users to have a shopping site up in a matter
of minutes. With WebCatalog Builder's shopping cart technology and database
support for easy updating, eBusiness has never been easier.

"We are very excited about the solution that WebCatalog Builder offers for
business owners who want to publish a catalog and sell products, but do not
want to spend a fortune to do so," said Clent Richardson, Apple's Vice
President of Worldwide Developer Relations. "This new product, which taps
the important retail market, builds on Smith Micro's flagship technology
that is used by companies like Ben & Jerrys, The Pillsbury Dough Shop and
Total Sports".

Current market research indicates substantial growth in consumer and
business-to-business purchasing over the Internet. The launch of our Mac
WebCatalog Builder is designed to offer Macintosh users the advantage of
substantial opportunities in the eCommerce product and services marketplace
and the ability to grow their eBusiness on the Mac platform.

In addition, Smith Micro Software already offers Macintosh users a server
solution called WebCatalog and WebMerchant which performs credit card
verification and if desired electronic product delivery. Both products are
available on native Macintosh servers such as WebSTAR and Web Ten and Unix
platforms supported include Sun Solaris, Linus and Mac OS X Server.

"Our hosting enhancements assist merchants in managing their entire
storefront, from positioning their website with search engines to
transaction processing. We use our years of experience in building
eCommerce web sites to help our WebCatalog Builder customers be successful
quickly", said William W. Smith Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer
of Smith Micro Software. ""In addition to developing WebCatalog Builder we
provide consulting and application hosting services that help your business
develop Web-based storefronts.
