UPEK Launches Fingerprint Reader Software for Mac

Protector Suite for Mac and Eikon Digital Privacy Manager increase security
and reduce password headaches for Mac users

Emeryville, CA, January, 2008 -- UPEK, Inc, a leading brand of fingerprint
biometric security solutions, today launched Protector Suite for Mac
software at Macworld, allowing Mac users to increase both security and
convenience with the simple swipe of their unique finger. Protector Suite
for Mac in combination with the award-winning Eikon Digital Privacy
Manager, a USB peripheral fingerprint reader, enables Mac users to swipe
their finger instead of typing passwords to login as well as access
password-protected websites and secure preferences. This release of
Protector Suite for Mac incorporates end user feedback after a successful
preview release and now supports Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager and Protector Suite for Mac enhance the
Mac user experience by letting users simply swipe their finger to:

* Logon, at startup and when returning from sleep mode;

* Unlock Keychain to replay login credentials to web accounts and access
secure notes and certificates;

* Unlock Secure Preferences to access administrator-level settings;

* Unlock FileVault to decrypt the user's home folder; and

* Unlock the screensaver.

Using passwords to access important information poses risks when people use
simple passwords that can be hacked, use the same password for multiple
accounts, or write down passwords that can be stolen. The Eikon Digital
Privacy Manager and Protector Suite for Mac let users employ stronger
passwords that they now don't have to remember.

"People have more and more of their personal information on their computers
and online and need a way to both protect this valuable information and
access it easily," stated Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies and
a leading technology analyst. "Products like Protector Suite for Mac
simplify users' lives, improving their efficiency and overall experience."

The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager, which began shipping in May 2007 and is
available on amazon.com for $49.99, won the 2007 CES Best of Innovations
Award and has garnered rave reviews. The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager now
supports Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, in addition to
supporting Windows XP and Vista operating systems. Protector Suite for Mac
is scheduled to be available in Japanese, French, German and Spanish in the
first half of 2008.
