Trend Micro has announced the availability of a new product to help
Mac users safely surf the web with any browser, confidently click on
links in emails and IM messages, and stay protected against Internet
crime. Carol Carpenter, vice president of consumer marketing for
Trend Micro, says the goal is to "give consumers powerful,
easy-to-use security so they can confidently surf the Internet, both
on Mac and Windows."

Trend Micro's anti-malware and Web threat protection technologies
protect a user's identity and personal data while they shop, bank,
and surf online. These technologies block IM and email links that
lead to dangerous web sites, Carpenter says.

She adds that, with Trend Smart Surfing for Mac
(http://us.trendmicro.com/us/products/personal/smartsurfing-mac/index.html),
users are protected from online scams that trick them into revealing
confidential information; it also prevents them from unknowingly
installing dangerous software on their Mac computer. The parental
control feature allows parents to choose the web sites they wish to
block.

Trend Smart Surfing also includes free automatic updates. The price
is US$69.95 per user per year. Currently, Trend Micro is offering a
30-day free trial version of the product.
