The next major release of Sybase's flagship product, Adaptive Server
Enterprise (ASE), has been in Beta 1 testing since last fall. Now, we're
releasing the Beta 2 software for testing. If you haven't already joined

* Galaxy Partitions
* Next Generation Query Processing
* Computed Columns
* Functional Indexes

And we've added these key features in the Beta 2 test release:

Developer support enhancements:

* 64-bit integer SQL data type
* Unsigned integers
* Hierarchical XML, XML schema validation

VLDB/Performance enhancements:

* Auto update statistics
* Large number of devices
* Direct I/O
* Delayed commit
* Default network packet size

Usability enhancement in Sybase Central ASE Plugin:

* Enterprise view
* SQL preview & JS integration
* ASE 15 feature support

As a Beta 2 participant, you'll receive free Beta 2 software, advice on
your implementation plan, Newsgroup access to your fellow developers and
data management professionals, and the opportunity to provide feedback and
priorities on planned ASE features.
