ALADDIN SYSTEMS' NEW STUFFIT COMPRESSION SOFTWARE DEVELOPER'S KIT HELPS
DEVELOPERS CUT DISTRIBUTION COSTS

Software Developers Can Now Include The Latest StuffIt Compression And
Decompression Technology Within Their Software To Create Faster Downloads,
Use Less Space, And Access A Variety Of Internet File Types

Watsonville, CA - March 8, 2000 - Aladdin Systems, Inc., a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Aladdin Systems Holdings, Inc. (OTC NQB: ALHI) and publisher
of the worldwide Macintosh compression standard, StuffIt(tm), today
announced it is now shipping the StuffIt Engine(tm) Software Developer Kit
(SDK), version 5.5 for Macintosh. The StuffIt Engine gives third-party
software built-in support for StuffIt archives (.sit), the Macintosh
standard for archiving and compression, and most efficient file compression
technology.

By licensing the StuffIt Engine, a developer's product can easily create
smaller StuffIt 5.5 archives (.sit), self-extracting archives (.sea), and
encrypted archives, among other formats. The StuffIt Engine consists of a
series of code resources that give end-users access to standard StuffIt
archival compression and decompression.

"Better, faster, smaller...that's what was behind the development of the
latest StuffIt Engine SDK," said Darryl Lovato, CTO. "We've developed a
better compression algorithm that creates smaller compressed files faster,
which will allow software developers to pass on the savings to customers,
so we all win."
New StuffIt Engine Features and Enhancements:
*Compatibility with Mac OS 9.0
*support for Zip compression
*support for BZip compression and decompression
*support for Windows(r) StuffIt self-extracting archives
* improved StuffIt Engine provides 25% tighter compression over the old format

One Application Programming Interface (API)
Although significant improvements and enhancements have been made to
the StuffIt Engine, there is still only one application programming
interface (API) to handle all formats, so developers can easily work
with the following formats:

*StuffIt compression and decompression
*ZIP compression and decompression
*BinHex decoding and encoding
*MacBinary decoding and encoding
*UUcode decoding and encoding
*ARC decompression
*GZIP decompression
*Unix Compress decompression
*AppleLink Package decompression
*MIME document decoding
*Compact Pro decompression
*Mounting of ShrinkWrap disk images
*Private File and Lha decoding

The Aladdin StuffIt Engine SDK is distributed electronically from Aladdin's

is sold through license agreements directly from Aladdin. Current licensees
