SAN DIEGO, California (November 11, 2003) - SQLabs is pleased to
announce SQLitePlugin 1.3.
SQLitePlugin is a powerful and easy-to-use database plugin for
REALbasic built on top of SQLite, an embeddable, stand-alone SQL
database library written in C. SQLite databases are stored as files on
the user's local filesystem. Because it does not implement REALbasic's
database API, SQLitePlugin is perfect for use with REALbasic Standard.
The most important new feature in SQLitePlugin 1.3 is support for older
versions of REALbasic. SQLitePlugin now supports versions of REALbasic
beginning with 2.1.2. SQLitePlugin 1.3 also fixes a bug that prevented
temporary files from being deleted properly.
SQLabs has decided to implement a new licensing scheme for
SQLitePlugin. Paid registration is now required to use SQLitePlugin
without limitations. Unregistered, SQLitePlugin will return up to 150
rows of any database query. The registered version has no such
restrictions. SQLabs feels that this strikes a good balance between
wanting to provide a free plugin that supports small database projects,
while still being able to support the plugin and its customers into the
future.
Single-user licenses for SQLitePlugin are $29, and permit an unlimited
number of royalty-free applications to be developed. Company licenses
for 9 or more developers may be purchased for $239. The only
restriction on the single and company licenses is that you may not
create an application that itself can be used to create database
applications or that can be used as a database server. For that you
will need a redistribution license, which is available for $319. A
redistribution license includes a company license.
