FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Speakables Announces Free Voice Control for PVRs

Speakables for TV is the first software program to let consumers do what
they can't with TIVO - control their Mac-based PVRs, by voice. Users can
now change TV channels, view TV listings, launch recorded TV programming
and more, by voice.

San Francisco, CA, October 17, 2005 - Speakables, a voice recognition
software company with offerings tailored to entertainment applications for
the digital home, including the first voice recognition program to launch
iTunes music playlists and video, announced the release of Speakables for
TV. Speakables was developed by speech recognition experts including a key
developer of Apple's Speech Recognition technology.

Speakables for TV is the first voice recognition software product to enable
users to control their Mac-based PVRs (personal video recorders), such as
EvolutionTV, AlchemyTV and MyTV.PVR by voice. Users may now change TV
channels by simply speaking the name of the channel. Speakables for TV is
designed to work with Speakable Items, Apple's voice recognition
application, already included in the Mac OS X platform.

"Speakables for TV lets consumers do what they can't with TIVO," says
Deborah Quinlan, President of Speakables. "The convenience of voice control
combined with the coolness factor, particularly among college students who
are using computer-based PVRs as their de-facto TVs, is going to be a
strong differentiator and tipping point for those choosing between
computer-based and stand-alone or cable-based PVRs."

The company is introducing Speakables for TV as a free download to
encourage increased adoption of computer-based PVRs, and convergence to the
Mac/PC as the central hub of entertainment media in the digital home.

"Voice command is the killer app for the digital home. We are extending its
use from what was primarily a productivity tool to controlling
entertainment oriented computer applications away from the desktop, in
relaxed areas of the home like the living room or bedroom," says Quinlan.
"The intention being that in these relaxed areas, it can be more convenient
and of course more impressive to use voice command than other input
devices."

Pricing and Availability

Speakables for TV (for Mac OS X 10.2 or newer) is immediately available via
a free download from the Speakables website at www.speakables.com.
