Sonnet Announces Internal Drive Mounting System for G5

PARIS, FRANCE--September 20, 2005--APPLE EXPO--Sonnet Technologies, a
worldwide leader in upgrades for Apple Macintosh computers and iPod digital
music players, announces G5 Jive, the internal drive mounting system for
Power Mac G5 computers. G5 Jive enables Power Mac G5 users to add up to
three additional Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives inside their computer--just
add drives and a SATA PCI card to create the most cost-effective solution
for adding high-performance storage capacity in a Power Mac G5.

While the Power Mac G5 only provides mounting support for two internal hard
drives, G5 Jive provides a secure anchorage for up to three additional
drives. It consists of a custom metal base plate and mounting bracket,
mounting screws, three internal SATA data cables, and a custom-designed
3-drive SATA power cable. G5 Jive mounts in the space at the bottom of the
case beneath the optical drive and its installation has zero impact on PCI
slots and adapter cards. Using Mac OS X Disk Utility or third party
software and multiple drives, users can create a striped (RAID 0) array to
achieve great read/write performance, or a mirrored (RAID 1) array for data
security. For even greater flexibility and performance, an additional drive
in the Power Mac G5's second drive bay can be included with the G5 Jive
drives in a RAID O array--a four drive striped array can achieve data
transfer rates up to 274 MB/s!

More and more Power Mac G5 users are discovering that their storage
requirements are growing beyond what their computer can support natively,
with applications, documents, music, image and video files taking up more
space than anyone expected even a few years ago. "G5 Jive offers users a
simple-to-install, internal alternative to external drive cases," states
Robert Farnsworth, Sonnet CEO. "When combined with a high-performance
Serial ATA host controller card like Sonnet's popular Tempo-X eSATA 4+4, G5
Jive makes it possible for users to add up to three additional internal
drives now and four external drives in the future."
