Roxen WebServer 2.1 Beta for Mac OS X

ROXEN INTERNET SOFTWARE RELEASES ROXEN WEBSERVER
FOR MAC OS X PUBLIC BETA

Open source, enterprise-strength web server now available for immediate
download

San Francsisco, CA., January 9, 2001 - Roxen Internet Software today
announced the immediate availability of Roxen WebServer 2.1 Beta for Mac OS
X Public Beta. Roxen WebServer is an open source web server with the
capacity to power even the world's most popular web sites on Macintosh
computers.

"Roxen WebServer has specific advantages for Mac users since it has an
intuitive and appealing 100% web based interface," said Lars Hgberg, CEO
of Roxen Internet Software. "Roxen WebServer is uniquely capable of
performing heavy-duty server-side image manipulations in real-time, which
can be used to automate tasks web designers find particularly cumbersome
and time-consuming today."

"Built on an open-source UNIX-based foundation and offering advanced
Internet and graphics technologies, Mac OS X is the most technically
advanced personal computer operating system ever," said Clent Richardson,
Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "Roxen WebServer
2.1 takes advantage of the incredible business opportunities of Mac OS X
and opens up new opportunities for web serving on a Macintosh."

Roxen WebServer's wide feature set, commitment to open standards and focus
on usability makes it easy to rapidly develop powerful, scalable and secure
web applications and services. Roxen WebServer offers an architecture for
the future since it is modular and object-oriented that makes it easily
extensible. Already today it functions as a WAP server to deliver pages to
WAP cellular phones. Point-and-click installation and adherence to Mac OS
X's directory structure ensures that almost anyone can install and run
Roxen WebServer for Mac OS X on their computer. No longer advanced computer
skills are required to set up, configure and administrate a high-performing
web site.

Graphical Capabilities
----------------------
Uniquely Roxen has support for any image format and has the power to
perform run-time server-side image processing for richer personalization of
web sites. For instance a layered Photoshop image can be stored in its
native format on the server and on request it is converted to a JPEG or GIF
or even a WBMP for cell-phones. Also it has support for fonts as to render
antialiased and text with filter-like effects on images. An example of the
graphical capabilities is Roxen's web based interface itself, which
includes a theme, 'Homage to Apple', where Roxen WebServer generates all
elements dynamically.

Standards Compliance
--------------------
Roxen WebServer supports a wide range of open and proprietary standards
such as HTTP 1.1, HTML 1.0, SSL 3.0, WML 1.0, Java 2, Java Servlets 2.2,
Perl, Pike, JSP, Unicode, CGI, FastCGI, TTF and image formats such as PSD,
TIFF, JPEG and GIF to name a few.
Availability

Roxen WebServer is an open source product and is released under the Gnu
Public License (GPL), which means that it is free for immediate download
off http://www.roxen.com/, to share, extend and use for both personal and
commercial purposes.
