REALbasic 3.1 for Mac OS X

REAL SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES REALBASIC 3.1 for Mac OS X

REALbasic 3.1 adds Mac OS X specific features and improves database
functionality

March 21, 2001 - Austin, TX - REAL Software, Inc. today announced REALbasic
3.1, a free upgrade for all REALbasic 3 owners. REAL Software created this
upgrade to improve its compatibility with Mac OS X and take advantage of the
intuitive graphic user interface, Aqua. REALbasic 3.1 also operates on
earlier versions of Macintosh operating systems and it allows users of all
skill levels to develop software with a single design and compile native
applications for Macintosh and Windows without requiring any
platform-specific adjustments.

"REALbasic 3.1's features for Mac OS X enable users to begin developing the
native software that users of Mac OS X will demand. I see this as a huge
opportunity for developers interested in gaining market share from
slower-moving competitors", said Geoff Perlman, CEO of REAL Software. "We
expect to see an explosion of Mac OS X-native software between now and
summer."

"Mac OS X's open source foundation and superior performance make it an ideal
platform for developers to create software applications," said Clent
Richardson, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.
"REALbasic 3.1 is a tremendous tool for developers to produce powerful,
full-featured software because it allows them to develop for Mac OS X and
previous versions of the Mac operating system simultaneously."

REALbasic is a powerful, easy-to-use tool for creating your own software for
Macintosh and Windows. REALbasic is easy enough for beginners and powerful
enough for professionals to use. Having a problem that needs solving is all
that is required to benefit from using REALbasic.

REALbasic is available for US$149.95 for the Standard Edition and US$349.95
for the Professional Edition packages, direct from REAL Software. REAL
Software offers academic and volume discounts as well as license-only
options. In addition to US English, REALbasic is available in Dutch, French,
German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Japanese.
