REAL Software Acquires Database Technology from SQLabs

AUSTIN, Texas (May 5, 2005) - REAL Software, Inc. announced today the
company has acquired SQLite-based database technology developed by SQLabs
of San Diego, California. This technology includes SQLitePlugInPro for
REALbasic and SQLiteServer. SQLitePlugInPro is a popular database plugin
that enables development of single-user database applications. SQLiteServer
is a SQLite-based database server.

"We acquired this technology so that REALbasic users will have instant
access to a well-known, industry-standard, fast, dependable, SQL-based
database engine on which to build powerful database applications," stated
Geoff Perlman, president and CEO of REAL Software. "In addition, they will
be able to do so on Windows, Macintosh and Linux, furthering our firm
commitment to provide cross-platform that really works."

"By acquiring this technology, REAL Software is paving the way to provide
powerful database development technology to REALbasic users," offered Will
Leshner, principal of SQLabs. "Since it is based on SQLite which is
public-domain, fast and reliable, REALbasic users gain an industry-standard
database engine that's tailored to meet their needs."

The single-user database engine will be included in an upcoming release of
REALbasic. Plans for the database server will be announced later this year.
