[NPL] ZipBurst Software: 2nd Generation

[NPL] ZipBurst Software: 2nd Generation

MILLBURN, New Jersey, October 2, 1999 --- Dantowitz Consulting & Research,
Inc. (DC&R) developer of specialized software tools, today announced its
Second Generation of ZipBurst(TM) Software Products. The ZipBurst CGI and
ZipBurst Generator, for MacOS, Windows NT/95/98, and Unix were released
last June and incorporate the first generation product, which searches a
database by postal codes and returns the nearest locations by distance "as
the crow flies." The second generation ZipBurst Products support searching
ANY fields of a database in addition to using DC&R's geo-locating postal
code search technology.

After many requests to use ZipBurst search technology with other database
products, DC&R set out to write a complete stand-alone database search
engine that incorporated the ZipBurst search technology and used no
"middleware" packages. Since there is only one application responsible for
searching and serving your database, this lowers your memory footprint,
search latency, and reduces your software and hardware costs.

The first generation software achieved it's performance by generating an
index file off-line for use by the CGI. While this offers great performance
and the ability to run a PERL based CGI on a $19.95 per month web hosting
account, users also wanted real-time searches of dynamic databases. The
second generation software offers real-time searching as well as complex
searches based on any fields of the database.

A beta test search is available now at:

Samples of the first generation technology are available at:

In addition to a native (C-based) MacOS CGI and a WebSTAR plug-in, DC&R
plans to release ZipBurst products for other strategic database tools late
in Q4 1999 and Q1 2000.

The second generation ZipBurst software runs on Macintosh computers with
MacOS 7.x or later and requires a minimum of 4Mb of RAM. The software is
due to be released in November and final pricing information is not yet
available. Upgrades from the first generation ZipBurst products will offer
current users a discounted upgrade path.
