OPEN DOOR NETWORKS UPGRADES SHAREWAY IP PROFESSIONAL TO 2.0 ENTIRE
PRODUCT LINE NOW PROVIDES EASY IP-BASED FILE SHARING

ASHLAND, OR. -- May 17, 1999 -- Open Door Networks Inc. today
announced that it was shipping ShareWay IP Professional Edition
version 2.0, a major new release of its high end Macintosh IP file
sharing product. With the addition of ShareWay IP Pro 2.0, Open
Door's entire ShareWay product line now supports the Service Location
Protocol (SLP) technology first introduced with ShareWay IP 2.0
Personal and Standard Editions. SLP, an Internet standard, enables
AppleTalk-like dynamic browsing and choosing of IP-based servers.
Open Door also announced an upgraded version of its AppleTalk to IP
Migration Suite.

ShareWay IP Pro 2.0 takes advantage of the implementation of SLP
included in Mac OS 8.5 to address one of the few remaining issues
with IP-based file sharing: ease-of-use. Since shipping ShareWay IP
in late 1997, Open Door has enabled any AFP (AppleShare-compatible)
server to share files over the Internet or an intranet using TCP/IP
protocols. However such servers could not be found and accessed in
the point-and-click manner that users have come to expect from the
Macintosh. Last January, Open Door addressed this issue by adding SLP
support to its ShareWay IP 2.0 Personal and Standard Editions and AFP
Engage! 2.0 products. ShareWay IP Pro 2.0 brings this same
ease-of-use to the top of the ShareWay IP product line.

ShareWay IP Pro 2.0 supports SLP and point-and-click access in three ways:

- When running on Mac OS 8.5 or later, ShareWay IP Pro registers all
target servers (those which it is making available over IP) with SLP.
SLP registration makes those servers available to anyone on the same
intranet with an SLP browsing application like AFP Engage! 2.0. SLP
browsers can view a dynamically updated list of registered servers
and simply double-click a server to initiate access to it.

- ShareWay IP Pro 2.0 can act as an SLP proxy for any IP-based AFP
server on the local intranet or anywhere on the Internet. SLP
proxying makes IP-based servers available through SLP even though
they do not support the protocol directly. For example, ShareWay IP
Pro 2.0 can make any AppleShare IP server easily accessible through
an SLP browsing application like AFP Engage! 2.0. SLP proxying can
also be used to "import" an Internet-based server, such as Open
Door's Info-Mac shareware mirror (afp.opendoor.com), for easy
point-and-click access within an intranet.

- ShareWay IP Pro 2.0 includes a 50-user license to AFP Engage! 2.0
for easy client-side browsing.

ShareWay IP Pro 2.0 also includes additional features requested by customers:

- An enhanced log file, in Macintosh-standard WebSTAR log format,
detailing connections and connection attempts to all targeted
servers. The log file can be analyzed in real-time through Open
Door's LogDoor Real-time Server Monitor, providing up-to-the minute
details of accesses and potential security issues.

- Full support for new Mac OS technologies, including Apple Help and
Navigation Services. ShareWay IP Pro is one of the first products to
fully support Apple Help.

- Other minor bug fixes and enhancements.

ShareWay IP has become increasing popular as a key tool in the
rapidly accelerating migration of Macintosh networks from AppleTalk
to IP protocols. Open Door has upgraded its AppleTalk to IP Migration
Suite to include ShareWay IP Pro 2.0, as well as LogDoor 2.2 for
real-time analysis of ShareWay IP and other server logs. The Suite
provides an integrated set of tools, documentation and examples for
migrating AppleTalk-based networks to TCP/IP protocols.

A free evaluation version of ShareWay IP Pro 2.0, plus details on the
product, are available from the ShareWay IP Web site at
http://www.opendoor.com/shareway/ . The price for ShareWay IP Pro
remains unchanged at $479 ($349 educational). Upgrades from previous
versions of ShareWay IP Pro, to both ShareWay IP Pro 2.0 and the full
AppleTalk to IP Migration Suite are also available, starting at $119
($99 educational). Details on the Migration Suite are available at
http://www.opendoor.com/migration/ . All products can be purchased
directly off Open Door's Web site.
