iMac is Now Most Affordable Consumer Computer

CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Apple Computer, Inc. (Nasdaq:
AAPL) today announced the industry's most aggressive financing program
which enables customers to buy an iMac for just $29.99 per month. Apple's
financing program features instant in-store credit approval, no payments
for 120 days, and one of the lowest interest rates available to consumers
anywhere.

"For the price of three pizzas a month, you can own an iMac," said Steve
Jobs, Apple's interim CEO. "The world's coolest consumer computer has just
become the most affordable."

Participating Apple resellers nationwide, including CompUSA, are offering
instant in-store credit approval using Apple's web-based loan application.
Approved buyers can take their iMacs home with no down payment, and with no
payments for 120 days.

"This is going to make a hot product even hotter," said Jim Halpin, CompUSA
president and CEO. "We think Santa will be delivering a lot of iMacs this
holiday season."

Apple's financing program also lets customers finance add-on products,
including printers, storage devices, scanners and software, which can be
added at any time during the first 90 days after the computer purchase.
Buyers may prepay their loan at any time with no penalty.

Apple will be supporting this financing program with television, radio,
print and outdoor advertising, as well as with in-store merchandising
throughout the retail channel. For more information, call 800-730-4121 or
visit Apple's web site at www.apple.com.

Apple also announced some enhancements to iMac. All iMacs now come loaded
with Mac OS 8.5, Apple's "must have" upgrade to the Macintosh operating
system. All iMacs are also now equipped with ATI's Rage Pro Turbo graphics
controller and 6MB of video RAM, for increased graphics performance. Adobe
PageMill 3.0 has been added to the selection of consumer software that
comes with iMac, allowing customers to easily create and manage their own
Internet web pages.

Apple Computer, Inc. ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s
with the Apple II, and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with
the Macintosh. Apple is now recommitted to its original mission -- to bring
the best personal computing products and support to students, educators,
designers, scientists, engineers, businesspersons and consumers in over 140
countries around the world.

67 monthly payments of $29.74. 14.89% Annual Percentage Rate subject to
increase or decrease. Payments deferred for the first 120 days subject to
interest of $35.44. Loan origination fee of $54.13 charged on day 91. No
prepayment penalty. Based on estimated retail price of $1299. No down
payment. On approved credit. Tax and shipping not included. ISP fees not
included.
