[NPL] oAzium plug-ins for FileMaker

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WAVES IN MOTION INTRODUCES THE OAZIUM FAMILY OF FILEMAKER ENHANCEMENTS

Cross-platform plug-ins add functions for global variables, text strings,
dates and times

MONTEREY, California. August 30, 1998. A good FileMaker developer can make
his favorite application do pretty much anything, but even the best
FileMaker developers welcome the chance to do something simpler and faster.
With this in mind, the folks at Waves in Motion have chosen this year's
FileMaker Developer Conference to unveil the first of their oAzium
plug-ins, a family of FileMaker enhancements designed to tackle the most
common challenges faced by FileMaker developers, while increasing the
potential for previously unthinkable applications.

-- oAzium Variables --

The oAzium Variables plug-in allows you to create and manipulate global
variables in memory, without the need to define any global fields
beforehand. You can use these variables in any script or field calculation
or access them instantly without the need for a relationship.

The oAzium Variables plug-in includes a set of numerical functions that
allow you to perform basic arithmetic operations on the variables you've
defined, and a set of string functions that allow you to define and
concatenate character strings.

-- oAzium String Functions --

If you require more sophisticated control over character strings, the
oAzium String Functions plug-in provides functions for processing delimited
lists, extracting text from strings, and formatting strings such as phone
numbers and social security numbers.

Compared to the long, complicated string calculations all too familiar to
FileMaker developers, oAzium string functions are clear, concise, and fast.
They are easy to build, easy to debug, and easy to modify.

-- oAzium Date and Time --

The oAzium Date and Time plug-in allows you to measure the period between
two events, automatically handling events that span more than one day, and
expressing the result in the time unit--days, hours, minutes, or
seconds--that best suits your needs.

Another series of functions lets you work in new ways with dates and time
by allowing you to define complex chronological relationships, event lists,
and more with simple one-line calculations.

In addition to being Year-2000 compliant, the oAzium Date and Time plug-in
allows time stamps and calculations with a precision down to the
millisecond. Finally, you can start using FileMaker to time actions in
professional environments where a second can seem like an eternity.

You can purchase the oAzium plug-ins for just $49.00 each from the Waves In
Motion website:

Waves In Motion also offers educational discounts and special pricing to
developers looking to use the oAzium plug-ins in their own FileMaker
solutions. For all their products, Waves In Motion offers a demo version
you can try before you make your purchase. The demo versions of the oAzium
plug-ins offers all the functionality of the full versions except that they
operate for only one hour at a time.

Waves in Motion is the developer of a growing collection of FileMaker
solutions and plug-ins, including Script Scheduler, Simply Surveys--The
Dragon, and the Analyzer. They are active members of the FileMaker Solution
Alliance and the Apple Developer Program, and have been consulting and
developing FileMaker solutions since 1990.
