QDesign Music from Ampcast.com
December 17, 1999 - Vancouver, BC -- QDesign Corporation, a leading
provider of digital audio compression technologies, released version 1.1 of
the MVP digital music system today. MVP is the industry's first cross
platform (for MacOS and Windows) software for recording from CD to MP3 and
QDesign Music files, playback of digital music and videos, and playlist
management.
Artists can now easily encode, publish, and market their music online via
the IUMA (www.IUMA.com) Artist Uplink site from MVP. MVP 1.1 offers greater
flexibility in MP3 encoding, with optional speed and quality encoding
modes. MVP 1.1 also supports a host of new features including playback of
variable bitrate MP3 files, display of ID3 tags commonly used to display
album artwork and artist information, and "Streamlinks" for direct playback
of QuickTime streaming media.
Streamlink files provide a direct link to a particular piece of music,
radio station, or other streamed online content; as small as 1 kbyte, they
are ideal for online promotion and marketing of digital music destinations.
Anyone with the ability to stream live or recorded QuickTime content can
make these small files, and with a simple double-click, users can either
launch the desired stream automatically or save it to a playlist in MVP for
easy access to favorite selections. Visit www.MVPsite.com or email
streamlink@mvpsite.com to hear streaming QDesign Music from the latest MVP
Spotlight: www.Ampcast.com.
"MVP offers artists an easy, one-step process to encode from CD into MP3 or
QDesign formats and submit music to IUMA's Artist Uplink, all within one
extremely versatile application," says Antony Brydon, General Manager of
IUMA. "It's as useful to online musicians as it is to online music fans."
"Ampcast uses the QDesign Music Codec technology for our online radio
station and streamed music because it offers the highest quality streaming
web audio available," said Erik Briceno, COO of Ampcast.com, Inc. "Now with
the latest version of MVP, we can stream content directly into custom
playlists, making digital music access and delivery easier than ever and
our online marketing and promotional efforts more effective."
"MVP is designed to maximize the quality of the digital music experience,
which we believe is based on a combination of great sounding audio with
interactive multimedia and on-demand access to content," said Ken Ashdown,
VP of Marketing for QDesign Corporation. "With the latest release of MVP,
we are enabling music enthusiasts and artists with the tools to encode
great sounding audio for personal consumption or online promotion. MVP
users can now build playlists by combining their favorite streamed media
with personalized content from their own digital media libraries so
regardless of where the content is located, either live online or stored
locally, users have immediate access."
QDesign is a member of the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI). The MVP
application will support the SDMI guidelines for protecting content owners
rights for managing access and distribution of their content.
