MindVision Offers Fast, FREE, Flexible File Expander

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- January 5, 1998 -- MindVision Software shipped
the preview release of MindExpander(tm), a FREE application that
automatically expands .sit, .sea, .bin and .hqx files at MacWorld
Expo today.

"MindExpander is about choice, openness, innovation, and competition
in an area of the Mac market that has been characterized by a lack of
options and closed proprietary standards. We wanted to develop a free
application that took the guesswork and hassle out of expanding a
file. Our ultimate goal is to help make file expansion a seamless
process," said MindVision CEO Steve Kiene.

MindExpander expands standard Internet files and helps users get to
the files they're downloading sooner and with less hassle.
MindExpander is smaller, runs faster, and uses less memory than other
decompression programs. The first of a new family of consumer
utilities, MindExpander gives Mac users a new freedom of choice.

According to Kiene, "The Internet is an incredible resource for the
millions of people now online. But with all of its benefits, the
Internet creates just as many frustrations. Downloading compressed
files is one of the biggest. MindExpander can eliminate most of that
confusion."

Throughout the month of January, anyone who downloads MindExpander
can register to win MindVision's FREE Volkswagen iBeetle. MindVision
is showing the iBeetle at MacWorld Expo booth #2511. Pictures are
also available at the MindVision web site. The iBeetle will be given
away in a drawing at the end of the month.

For downloading, registration details, and contest rules, visit
MindVision's web site at http://www.mindvision.com/consumer.
Consumers already know MindVision's work. In 1993 the company
developed Stacker, which was acquired by Stac Electronics. Nominated
for many honors, MacUser awarded Stacker four mice. In 1995
MindVision coauthored the highly decorated SpeedDoubler with
Connectix Corporation. Now, for the first time, MindVision will
publish it's own brand of consumer software.

Founded in 1987, MindVision Software is a recognized industry leader
specializing in software delivery solutions for Macintosh and
Windows. Thousands of software companies, including Microsoft,
Intuit, AOL, Corel, Adobe, and Netscape trust MindVision's products
to install their products. Consumers already know MindVision by the
progress bar of their installers, and soon they'll know MindVision by
a new breed of utilities.
