Toronto. December 22, 1998. These last few weeks, Marc LaFoy has been
heavily involved in the final testing of MacTicker, a simple
Macintosh application that lets you browse the stock market
information supplied by financial websites around the world and put a
stock ticker right on your desktop.

Marc came by his enthusiasm for the stock market just last year when
the right combination of loyalty and luck prompted him to buy shares
in Apple computer just before they began their seven-month climb from
a low of $12.75 to a high of $43.75. Ironically enough, however, with
Apple's fortunes rebounding, there were then no Macintosh
applications he could use to gather these quotes from the Internet.

"I wish I could've watched it all happen right on my screen," says
Marc, "but I had to settle with looking up Apple's stock every day on
my browser, and reloading the screen whenever my curiosity got the
better of me."

With the release of MacTicker 1.0, you can now watch any number of
your stocks roll by on an animated stock ticker, or call up a
detailed report for each of your favorites. MacTicker updates this
information once a minute, right on your desktop. You can configure
MacTicker to alert you to stocks that are doing particularly well, or
warn you when your fortunes are sinking.

"MacTicker is a highly specialized web browser," says Colin Biggin,
the lead developer on this project. "It automatically generates the
same queries you would otherwise have to enter manually through your
regular browser and processes the HTML returned by the server."

But instead of just displaying a static page for each stock,
MacTicker builds a scrolling display containing the current status of
each of the stocks you've specified. You can also call up a variety
of dynamic reports for individual stocks, from comprehensive reports
of each stock's fundamentals to a tiny display that you can move into
the corner of your screen and watch in the background.

MacTicker gathers American, Canadian, and European market information
from a collection of online financial sites. Each of these sites
offer free delayed stock quotes from a number of different sources.
Delayed quotes are generally 15-20 minutes behind the real-time
service required by professional traders, but are well suited for the
casual investor.
You can learn more about MacTicker on Galleon Software's website:

Or download a copy of MacTicker with full documentation from:

An unregistered copy of MacTicker runs for thirty minutes before it
quits, but otherwise lets you evaluate all of MacTicker's features
before you decide to purchase a serial number.

software for small, specialized markets.
