New versions of MacOpener and Conversions Plus Solve More Mac-PC
Compatibility Problems

Trumbull, CT (August 25, 1998)- DataViz(R), maker of leading Macintosh and
PC compatibility solutions for the past 15 years, has released new versions
of its Windows products, MacOpener(tm) 4.0 and Conversions Plus(tm) 4.5.
Its Windows product line has added additional features to provide even more
compatibility to anyone working in a mixed platform environment.

Added in the New Versions

The new versions of MacOpener, 4.0 and Conversions Plus 4.5, now support
the Windows 98 platform. MacOpener and Conversions Plus are the only
utilities of its kind to support the new Mac OS disk format for large
volume media, "Mac OS Extended Format" or "HFS+". Users can read, write and
format this media on their PC with Conversions Plus or MacOpener.
Conversions Plus also added new translators for Microsoft Office 98 for the
Macintosh. DataViz has long been the innovator for Mac-PC compatibility
solutions, and continues to set themselves apart from the competition by
supporting the latest applications and technology.

"As Mac-PC compatibility becomes increasingly important in the digital
content creation market, DataViz is striving to provide the best solutions
for today's mixed platform environments." comments Steve Yellen, DataViz
Windows Product Manager.

Mac-PC Solutions

MacOpener 4.0 for Windows allows users to read, write and format all
Macintosh media (HD floppy, removable cartridges and CD-ROMs) on Windows
(3.1, 95, 98, NT) just like PC disks. With MacOpener users can copy files
back and forth between Macintosh formatted disks and their PC. MacOpener's
"extension mapping" technology, allows the user to simply double click on
the Mac file to open it in their PC application. Extension mapping also
allows users to open files created in Mac versions of cross-platform
compatible applications like Adobe(R) PhotoShop(tm), PageMaker(tm), and
Illustrator(tm), in those same applications on the PC. This makes MacOpener
the ideal solution for people working in the same application on both the
Mac and the PC.

Conversions Plus 4.5 is a Windows utility that includes all the
functionality of MacOpener PLUS additional compatibility tools. Conversions
Plus' conversion technology allows users to convert word processing,
database, spreadsheet and graphic files. For example users can convert an
EPS Mac file to an EPS PC file. This allows users to work on files in their
applications.

Many times users who are transferring Mac files over a Windows network run
into issues with illegal file names. Conversions Plus 4.5 includes a new
tool called Name Doctor(tm) to help with these common file naming issues,
i.e. illegal characters and incorrect file extensions. Both MacOpener and
Conversions Plus are compatible with Microsoft's Services for Macintosh for
Windows NT server.
