World Class Data Center for Macintosh Website Operators Opens

June 4, 1998 - Long Island, New York. MacConnect - the first and only
national Internet Service Provider exclusively for users of the Macintosh
Operating System - has announced the opening of its new primary Internet
network node located in Melville, New York. Designed to be the premier
Macintosh Internet server co-location facility in the world today, this
carrier class network node brings to the Macintosh webmaster community the
kind of network infrastructure formerly reserved for UNIX and Windows NT
site operators.

MacConnect's new facility is located in space provided by Teleport
Communications Group (http://www.tcg.com), the oldest and largest
competitive telecommunications provider in the US, and includes the
following world class features:

* Over 50 megabits of Internet bandwidth
* Transit to and from over 65% of the global Internet without crossing
crowded public exchange points
* Diverse fiber-optic (OC-48) paths to multiple tier one Internet backbones
* Use of CISCO high end routers and ethernet switches
* 100MBPS Fast ethernet backbone architecture
* State of the art customer-friendly remote power control of co-located servers
* Carrier class power generation plant including 3 hour battery backup,
pure sine wave inverters and unlimited backup power via diesel generator
* Redundant Liebert environmental control systems designed to maintain a
constant 72 degrees (F) and 20% RH
* 24x7 electronic security system

Macintosh website operators can leverage MacConnect's infrastructure
investment by placing Mac based Internet servers in this new facility. In
addition, the new MacConnect node will become the home of MacConnect
servers (email, network authentication, member websites, etc.) dedicated to
supporting the Company's thousands of Macintosh Internet access customers
from coast to coast.

"This type of high end network facility has been the exclusive domain of
the Unix and NT crowd for some time now.", stated Drew Linsalata, President
of MacConnect parent EQUINOX Internet Services Corp. "But we built a
national access service for Mac users and were overwhelmed by the response,
so we're confident that building a world class network center for the Mac
community is the logical next step. We're looking forward to providing high
quality Internet connectivity for thousands of Mac-centric site operators."

MacConnect is the first and only nationwide Internet Access Service
dedicated exclusively to users of the Macintosh Operating System. Providing
dialup access, dedicated access, web hosting and server colocation services
to the Macintosh user community, MacConnect is a service of EQUINOX
Internet Services Corp. The company, based on Long Island, New York, is
privately held and can be found on the world wide web at
http://www.macconnect.com.
