Kansas City, Missouri - Proteron today releases an update to its
first-class MacOS enhancement GoMac 1.6 following closely on the heels of
Apple's recent operating system update. With a conservatively estimated one
hundred thousand downloads, GoMac is most decidedly the most popular task
bar on the Macintosh.

Among those many fans is Bob Levitus, who raves "GoMac is way cool. Whether
you're new to the Mac or a grizzled old veteran, it makes your Mac better.
Once you try it, you'll definitely want to buy it."

"We have a number of new and exciting features planned in upcoming
releases. We wish to emphasize that this update brings OS 8.5 compatibility
and continues in the fine tradition of stable Proteron software." remarked
Samuel, a prominent member of the GoMac team who attended the pre-release
kick-off at Proteron headquarters.

What is new in GoMac 1.6?

Most importantly, GoMac is now solidly OS 8.5 compatible. With OS 8.5,
Apple has released what the digital pioneers and bitpushing gurus at
Proteron agree is an outstanding system release. Some of those nifty
features include a program switcher and tear-off applications menu. This
has brought into question the role of GoMac in OS 8.5. Why use GoMac? Is
its feature-set still necessary given the new features in OS 8.5? The
resounding affirmative answer of GoMac beta testers' collective "Hey, this
is great stuff." is still echoing in the Proteron email bit buckets.

GoMac 1.6 contains customization features which will be of particular
interest to iMac and PowerBook users. The start button is now tastefully
customizable for those Mac users who want to avoid any semblance of Wintel
decor.

Another feature in GoMac 1.6 is the ability to access application memory
settings from the task bar contextual menus, in keeping with OS 8.5's
enhanced get info feature. As usual, the fine craftsmanship and balanced
interface design of Proteron's finest shows through here. Further
customization of the start menu has been added in this release.

For those unfortunate readers completely unfamiliar with GoMac, it is a
control panel which settles the score with Windows users. Ahem. GoMac makes
the Macintosh way of doing things friendlier and more efficient, even to
the hapless users of that other OS. As Steven Bobker sees it, "I'd be
literally lost without GoMac. Windows has exactly one great feature: its
Task Bar. GoMac gives the Mac an even better Task Bar."

GoMac 1.6 is available for download immediately at
ftp://ftp.proteron.com/pub/GoMac.hqx and higher-speed connections are
listed at the GoMac download web page... http://www.proteron.com/gomac/
This full-featured version is free for thirty days at which time,
registration for a mere $24.95 is highly suggested.
